Mental Fitness Unscripted S2E5 Social Media Slavery

from Mental Fitness Unscripted · host Chad Husted

There are chemical reactions in our brains occurring every moment we are "mindlessly" scrolling social media that absolutely affects our mood, outlook, and ultimately our behavior. Do you ever catch yourself all the way down the rabbit hole of silly cat videos when you meant to check the weather and move on? Social media is addicting, and we are more addicted to it than we think. Caution: Chad gets after parents who prematurely allow their kids to have phones while offering some encouragement that you can go against the flow of popular culture to raise kids free from the destructive consequences of internet and social media. Let's be honest, if we as adults struggle to manage our social media participation, imagine how impossible it is for young people. We must lead by example how we want our kids to live. The kids are watching us. They will do what we do. It's not just social media that binds us in slavery, but we are all slaves to something. Let's take a sober self-assessment to ensure we remain aware and in control of our appetites so they don't control us.
