Mental Health Crisis

from 7 Billion Reasons · host Pastor T

Mental Health is one of the top issues in our society, and the Church, unfortunately, is not immune to depression and anxiety. My guest today is Dr. Ray Houk, an Army Chaplin for many years who currently teaches at the King’s University. His experience from a pastoral perspective encourages healthy habits and seeking help when appropriate. If you are suffering from depression or suicidal thoughts, please dial 988 (in the USA). Another great resource is the suicide crisis website: https://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/topics/suicide-prevention .Risk FactorsSuicide does not discriminate. People of all genders, ages, and ethnicities can be at risk. Suicidal behavior is complex, and there is no single cause. The main risk factors for suicide are: Depression, other mental disorders, or substance use disorderChronic painA history of suicide attemptsFamily history of a mental disorder or substance useFamily history of suicideExposure to family violence, including physical or sexual abusePresence of guns or other firearms in the homeHaving recently been released from prison or jailExposure, either directly or indirectly, to others’ suicidal behavior, such as that of family members, peers, or celebritiesMost people who have risk factors will not attempt suicide, and it is difficult to tell who will act on suicidal thoughts. Although risk factors for suicide are important to keep in mind, someone who is showing warning signs of suicide may be at higher risk for danger and need immediate attention. https://pastor4people.com/do-you-have-depression-or-suffering-from-anxiety/ @Pastor4People

Wisdom's Proof JesusLifeTogether In a world of religion, ritual, hierarchy, control, money, marketing, and more flavors than 10,000 Baskin Robbins — how can we know what is Right and True? Some just give up. Bad move. JESUS LIVES and REIGNS! Some simply "go along to get along" to conform to culture and biological family. Really bad move, unless you are a lemming and don't care about the destiny someone else has chosen for you. But then JESUS, knowing this day would come, said, "By their fruit you shall know them" and "Wisdom is PROVED RIGHT by all her CHILDREN." Luke 7:35 Find some random offspring from whatever you wish you knew more about, look carefully at the second generation, and see if the gates of Hell are prevailing — as they would in a "mere words" and "mere ceremonies" attendance-based religious organization. OR, is satan getting busted in the mouth by that second generation? What is the fruit and the quality of LIVES of the children - once they can make their own choices? Then you'll Know.
