Mental Health: How Power Structures in Our Relationships Inadvertently Create a Foundation for Abuse

from Support, Protect, Empower - The Project Purpose Podcast · host Rachelle Innocent

#MentalHealth #Intention #selfcompassion 0:00 - 2:30 - Intro 2:30 - 10:41 - Power Dynamics 101 10:41 - Wrap Up Hello Everyone, I hope all is well. Welcome to our second segment on Mental Health, this week 😊 In today's conversation we're talking about the different behaviours that can often seem like benevolence, but are actually covert manipulation and control tactics. As the good old adage states, "There can be no power where there is love, and no love where there is power." This is specific to the foundation of the relationships we form with one another. It's an important question, that many of us overlook... Is the basis of this relationship respect, care, and regard for one another?, or are we caught on either sides of a power dynamic and calling it love? While many of us have our own working definitions of how equity translates in relationships, one thing is for certain, for love to lead there must be intention and mindfulness around limiting the power structures in the relationships we hold closest to us.
