Mental Health: Placing Boundaries on Contrary Opinions | Setting the Standard for Autonomy of Choice

from Support, Protect, Empower - The Project Purpose Podcast · host Rachelle Innocent

A conversation on Mental Health | Learning how to place boundaries on contrary opinions and set the standard for autonomy of choice. How to set boundaries, learning how to draw the line politely. Today we're discussing how to evaluate contrary opinions. Specifically, the opinions of those who do not agree with your decisions concerning any aspect of your life. How many of us have normalized and internalized criticism that is loud, insulting, and demanding that we reposition ourselves, accordingly? This video is a must watch 👀👀👀 #MentalHealth #boundaries #choiceautonomy0:00 - 2:30 - Intro 2:30 - 9:35 Setting the Standard for Autonomy of Choice 9:35 - Wrap Up While it's great that those who care for us want what's best for us, anyone who thinks they can make better decisions than you concerning your life, is more focused on their ability to manipulate and control outcomes to satisfy their own agenda (as well intentioned that may be). It's important to set boundaries that demand respect for our choice autonomy. While it's important to be receptive to feedback, it's equally important to expect respect when we invest in a given direction. How we live our lives is not based off of a majority rules ballot system -- the only opinion that should be driving the trajectory of your life is your own. Any questions?
