Mental Illness + Imagination

"The psychotic drowns in the same waters in which the mystic swims with delight." - Joseph Campbell. How do we begin to approach mental illness when talking about imagination and imaginal acts? On one level we need to make sure we're not misinterpreting mystical and transcendent experiences and classifying them as mental illness. On another level we need to make sure we stay grounded and balanced as we open up to a new way of approaching ourselves and the world. Two sides of the same coin.
