BIBLE STUDY| MIRACLES OF JESUS SERIES.|THE FIFTH MIRACLE OF JESUS pt.16| THE POWER OF RETREAT|JESUS WALKING ON WATER| CHIMDI OHAHUNA Intercession in the Face of Ignorance In this revelatory session of our ongoing Bible Study series on the Miracles of Jesus, we focus on the profound moment captured in Luke 23:34, where Jesus, hanging on the Cross, utters the words:  “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” This episode explores the spiritual weight of that statement, not just as a plea, but as a fulfillment of divine prophecy and a demonstration of mercy at its highest expression. KEY HIGHLIGHTS & INSIGHTS: - The Roman Soldiers: A Picture of Gentile Ignorance    The soldiers who crucified Jesus symbolize the Gentile world, acting in ignorance of both the sin of the first Adam and the identity of the One they crucified (1 Corinthians 2:8; Acts 3:17). They fulfilled prophecy without understanding it. - When Intentions Are Misaligned    Wrong intentions cloud judgment. Ignorance, though it may reduce the weight of guilt, does not remove the consequence of sin. Guilt may vary in degree, denial versus betrayal, but sin remains sin. - The Pain of Ignorance    While the soldiers believed they were punishing Jesus, they were unknowingly wounding their own souls. The devil thrives on ignorance, using it to perpetuate sin. Yet, God’s mercy still reaches beyond the peak of human failure. - The Power of Intercession    Jesus’ prayer on the Cross was not just for those present, it was for all transgressors. His intercession continues today through the saints. Romans 8:34 reminds us that Christ intercedes for us, and through us, for others. - Born Again for a Purpose    We are not saved to escape the world, we are born again to preserve it. Our new life in Christ positions us to be vessels of His mercy, allowing Him to intercede through us for those still bound by ignorance and sin. - Receiving Forgiveness    Though God has forgiven through Christ, that forgiveness must be received by faith. The finished work of Jesus is available, but it must be believed and embraced. This episode is a call to awareness, responsibility, and mercy.  It reminds us that ignorance is not innocence, and that the intercessory work of Christ is not only ongoing, it is meant to flow through us. As saints, we are appointed to stand in the gap, not in judgment, but in mercy.
