"Messy Eaters"

from Pastor Taylor Shippy's Sermons Hosted by Taylor Shippy

Pastor Taylor Shippy - 1 Corinthians 11:17-34 What if… when it comes to the Lord’s Table… we’re actually supposed to wear it—not just consume it? Not because we’re messy eaters. Not because we’re careless or flippant. But because, as the Apostle Paul says, “whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes” (1 Cor 11:26). In our final message of our Lenten series "At the Table," we wrestle with Paul’s warning in 1 Corinthians 11 and what it truly means to take the Table “in an unworthy manner.” More than a ritual to observe, the Table is a life to embody—calling us to reflect the self-giving love of Christ in how we live and how we love one another.
