Methane & The Microbiome

Methane is often in the news as a greenhouse gas, but guess what? Your gut microbiome also makes it. Specific organisms called methanogens are responsible for the production of methane in the GI tract. High levels of methane can locally affect gut motility and contribute to constipation.
