Tomlin決定帶著全家長途跋涉，前往蒙大拿州拜訪朋友。那是他們全家第一次體驗冰川國家公園的奇景。有一天日落時分，他在公園裡最大的一個湖上划槳。當他划到湖的中央，靜靜地坐在船板上，整面湖水看起來像玻璃一樣的光滑、明亮、純淨，周圍是絕對的寂靜，他感受到神的慈愛圍繞、包覆著他。回到岸上後，他邀請家人、朋友同來敬拜神的偉大、聖潔。不久，他便和幾位當代基督教音樂家創作了〈祢永恆聖潔〉(“Holy
