Michael Caruso of "WINTERTHORNE"

from The Buzz - BuzzWorthy Radio · host The Buzz - BuzzWorthy Radio

Michael Caruso is known to many fans as the creator/executive producer and one of the stars on the popular web series, "DeVanity." This August, Caruso returns with a brand new web series entitled, "Winterthorne." The first season will consist of four episodes, and follows the Winterthorne family and their candy making business.Caruso plays the role of Victor Winterthorne, husband of Miranda Winterthorne (Martha Madison), and he talks about how this show is completely different from "DeVanity," and flipping the script, so to speak, on gender specific roles:"'Winterthorne' takes place over a 10 year time span. Throughout the entire run, it's a modern storyline that runs parallel with flashbacks. It shows the rise of Miranda Winterthorne as the head of the family. The family is a family of candy makers. A lot of people think it's about a family who makes candy. That's only part of the truth of what this show is about. There is something IN the candy, and that's really the core of this show. The other switcharoo that we did with this show is that this is a family that is run by women. Women have complete control and power in this mini-micro world. In typical television, we see the men run the family, and the women being nurturing and supportive. We flipped all of that. The women are in power, and the men stay at home and take care of the kids. This is a way of kind of celebrating the power of women, and being able to show the many layers of what they are capable of doing."Caruso gave us a little in-depth look as to who exactly is Victor Winterthorne:"Part of Victor's dynamic is that over the hundred of years that this company has existed, the men of the family are the actual candy makers. The women are the ones who select the Winterthorne husbands. Off in the forest, there is a place where young men are trained in the art of making candy and how to be a proper Winterthorne husband. It's an honor to be selected as a Winterthorne husband, and it's a very competitive prize. It gives you an entry-way into a world of extreme wealth and luxury, but there is a price you pay for it. My character, Victor, is a servant. He was not groomed to be a husband for the Winterthorne women. However, he falls madly in love with Miranda. He's adored her the moment he has laid eyes on her. You'll get to see how they ended up together, and why she chose him. Victor is probably one of the nicer characters on the show, and he has made a lot of sacrifices for his wife."Aside from his work on "Winterthorne," Caruso begins taping for another web series entitled, "Club 5150." He also gave us a little preview of his character on this show, as well:"Steve (Silverman) has written a brilliantly funny comedy, but I call it more of a dramedy as it contains some tender moments. Talk about another fabulous cast! Deidre Hall (Marlena, 'Days of our Lives') is in this, as well. This is going to be four episodes, and it is very different from 'Pretty: The Series.' It's got some wackiness to it, but also great family conflict. I'm very excited for it. Steve is a fantastic writer, and I always commend him for being able to switch it up. I think the audience is going to love it, and I also get to play Jan Brady's husband! I was so excited, I said, 'Shut the front door!' We also have Eden Riegel ('All My Children') in the cast. We have a little bit of soap, and a little bit of character actors most may know by face but not name. It's going to be great."To find out more on what Michael Caruso had to say about working with the cast of "Winterthorne," including Linda Gray ("DALLAS"), Kirsten Storms and Kathleen Gati ("General Hospital"), download the full podcast above! Also, follow the series on Twitter at: @WINTERTHORNE1.Follow Michael Caruso on Twitter at: @MCarusoactor.On Monday, July 27, 2015, make sure to visit http://www.winterthorne.com for a special sneak tease video before the series premiere which debuts August 27.
