Michael Chammas - Kevie Walters Inside Ball
from Kevie Walters Inside Ball Hosted by Kevie Walters and Ben ‘Dobbo’ Dobbin
This week on Kevie Walters Inside Ball, Kevie and Dobbo sit down with Michael Chammas for a fascinating look inside one of the biggest jobs in rugby league. After years as one of the game’s leading journalists, Chammas opens up on his move from the media into football administration as the new General Manager of Football for the PNG franchise. He reflects on how he accidentally fell into journalism, working for free early in his career, and the surreal experience of interviewing players he once played alongside. The boys dive deep into the enormous challenge of building a brand-new club from the ground up — from pathways and recruitment to player welfare, logistics, and the vision for rugby league in Papua New Guinea. Chammas also reveals the behind-the-scenes story of signing Jarome Luai, the balancing act of attracting talent, and why this project could become one of the most unique experiences in world sport. A rare inside look at the future of rugby league, and the man helping shape it.
