Gang Violence The one and only fabulous Michael came on to the show to discuss gang violence with us. He cites that the lack of proper structure within the homes of young people is one of the biggest reasons that young people turn to gangs for membership. We discussed situations such as guns being placed in a minor's hand to do the deed for a senior member of the gang so that should they get caught the consequences are a lot less dire to a child than that of a full grown adult. We also talked about gang membership being inherited by certain members, meaning they really never had a choice to join or deny membership; it was a birth right given to them. Next, we touched on the origin of gangs in black communities which wew all about exercising our 2nd amendment right to bear arms and protect and serve our own communities. MIchael stated that funding your elected officials campaigns is a good way to fight the issues that come along with street violence. Peer pressure was also brought up to see how these two topics can go hand in hand, and how it can be detrimental to changing the directions in which the communities in need are heading. Some young people are joining gangs despite the fact that it is not a necessity to them. Parents not giving consequences for children's behaviors seem to be another reason that people join gangs, hence that lack of positive structure in the homes. Love is a huge component missing in young peole's lives which leads them to the streets and the dangers that lie there within.
