Michael Houlie can replace Cameron van der Burgh - Adriaanse
from General Sports Hosted by SABC Sport
Swimming South Africa Chief Executive Officer Shaun Adriaanse says the young Michael Houlie is capable of replacing the legendary Cameron van der Burgh. Van der Burgh announced his retirement last week to close a curtain on an illustrious career. Houlie is a young breaststroker that won the 50 metre gold medal in breaststroke at the Youth Olympics in Argentina recently. He also did well at the Region 5 games in Botswana last week. Van der Burgh has been an excellent servant for SA swimming over the last decade. He bowed out of an incredible career as double world champion at the World Swimming Short-Course Championships in Hangzhou, China on Sunday. He has won medals at the Olympics and Commonwealth games. Adriaanse says he will be sorely missed.
