Michael Wayne Jackson was a man with a long criminal record, abused alcohol and drugs, and was diagnosed with multiple forms of mental illness. Jackson woke up on the morning of September 22, 1986, for a scheduled meeting at his house with his probation officer. Things went sour quickly and Jackson shot and killed the man. But, police couldn't catch him, even after he crashed his car as they were chasing him. For eleven days, Jackson terrorized the small town of Wright City, MO as he hid outside of town.
