Michelle Pitot, Detours

from The Odyssey Storytelling Podcast

More than three years ago, Odyssey Storytelling hosted Michelle Pitot, who told the assembled audience a funny but personal story about the time she took a break from her preferred sexuality and discovered that love isn't quite as straightforward as it seems, despite the many influences of friends, family, and society as a whole. From Michelle's Odyssey bio: A Midwesterner by birth, Michelle Pitot ended up in Tucson via an eight year bypass that routed her to the San Francisco Bay Area. Tucson was also meant to be a brief detour on her way to Colorado but here she is, almost 20 years later, without a single Rocky Mountain in sight. Michelle is also a Social Worker by birth and now by choice, with a lifelong goal to change the world. For a long time she did that by working with delinquent teenagers, then she accidentally veered into the world of Wall Street when the tiny agency she worked for upon her arrival in Tucson expanded across the country and went public, trading on NASDAQ. Finally, she chose to leave that particular freeway and now work as one of the many changemakers at the YWCA, where she is Chief of Staff. This episode was performed and recorded in front of a live audience at The Screening Room in Tucson, AZ, on August 6th, 2015, and was curated by Carolyn Langford Hussein Fort.
