Michigan’s Special Teams Revival | Michigan Wolverines Football News

Michigan’s special teams are poised for a major upgrade this season, with coach Kyle Whittingham personally overseeing every meeting and pushing star players—like Andrew Marsh, Savion Hiter, and Smith Snowden—to make plays. Marsh, their top wideout, already flashed as a punt returner; Hiter, a freshman, is ready to dominate the run game. The kicking game gets a fresh start with Trey Butkowski at kicker and Cam Brown punting—aiming to fix last year’s struggles. But injuries loom: offensive tackle Andrew Babalola (missed all of last season) has a minor setback, freshman Ace Hamilton is out for the year, and defensive standout Dom Nichols is sidelined after a strong camp. Still, the team’s buy-in is strong under a new coaching staff focused on discipline and conditioning. And just like before, Michigan won’t release an official depth chart ahead of kickoff—keeping opponents guessing.
