Michkov’s Overtime Record Chase | Philadelphia Flyers News

The Flyers stunned the league last season by making the playoffs and knocking off their rivals, the Penguins, thanks to Coach Rick Tocchet’s leadership and breakout performances from young players. Matvei Michkov, once hailed as a potential superstar from his top-ten draft class, arrived from the KHL with high expectations — but his rookie campaign fell short of projections, finishing with 51 points instead of the hoped-for 60+. Despite being benched in the playoffs, Michkov remains on track to break Claude Giroux’s Flyers record for most overtime goals — currently at four, with eleven still up for grabs. The team is committed to developing him, and if given more chances — especially in overtime — Michkov could soon rewrite Flyers history.
