Mickey Moniak’s Slump Threatens Rockies Future | Colorado Rockies News

The Colorado Rockies are in freefall, chasing a 100-loss season while clinging to hope one game at a time. Their once-promising young star, Mickey Moniak—the No. 1 draft pick—was hailed for his first-half heroics with a .278 average, 15 homers, and a stellar .900 OPS, leading to a lucrative two-year extension. But since the All-Star break, Moniak’s numbers have cratered: .201 batting average, seven homers, and a dismal .605 OPS, fueled by a surge in strikeouts. With the Rockies’ offense struggling and Moniak’s future performance uncertain, the team’s $16.25M gamble may be backfiring—and could spell trouble for their playoff dreams.
