Microsoft Flight Simulator now available on Xbox Cloud Streaming

from Stevivor's Friendly Fire Show · host Ben Salter, Steve Wright

Microsoft Flight Simulator is now available on Xbox Cloud Streaming, and Stevivor was able to chat with Flight Sim head Jorg Neumann about the new release. “Microsoft Flight Simulator is now running on Xbox Cloud Streaming,” Neumann told Stevivor. “Ever since we launched on PC, the next thing we heard from the fans was ‘why is it not on Xbox?’ and we put it on Xbox Series S & X and they said, ‘why is it not on Xbox One?’," he continued. "That's been pretty consistent, and we heard that loud and clear." Accessibility through Xbox Cloud Streaming means those Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers on Xbox One can stream the game straight to their console using the feature. It also means that players can access the title on PC or Mac through a web browser, or directly to their iOS or Android device using similar functionality. "This is basically the build, sitting on Xbox hardware in the cloud, and it's mind-blowing," Neumann said while demonstrating gameplay. "It literally blows your mind. "It's super convenient... it's running 1080P, thirty frames a second," he continued. "What I love about it is it's almost instantaneous. [It] takes 15 seconds to to get this on the server and then it takes you, in my case, about twenty [or] thirty seconds to get the build and then you're playing." At present, the Xbox Cloud Streaming version of Microsoft Flight Simulator only offers controller support, but Neumann he and his team are working on touch controls -- including gyro support -- and native mouse and keyboard support through Bluetooth. "With cloud streaming, it does support... dual-stick," he said. "They have support for touch, which we haven't quite done yet, but we will, and then they are planning on doing more devices, cause it's just Bluetooth; you ultimately can hook up anything." You can watch or listen to our full interview with Neumann above for more on what's required for touch support, how Microsoft Flight Simulator handles the extra purchases you've made in-game and much more. Thanks again to Jorg for his time. Microsoft Flight Simulator received Stevivor’s Best PC award back in 2020. You can read our Xbox console review here or our original PC review here.
