Midday on Sports: Super Bowl Preview, NFL & Health Issues
from Midday · host WYPR 88.1 FM Baltimore
Today, it’s Midday on Sports: Gridiron Edition. Super Bowl 53 is being played on Sunday. We thought it a good time to talk about the state of the NFL, particularly the league’s evolving response to the prevalence of serious head injuries, and the fact that the NFL and leagues like the Pop Warner Youth League for kids are having a hard time finding insurance companies who are willing to write policies that cover serious injuries. Mark Hyman is a professor in the sports management program at George Washington University, and the author of books about sports injuries, the latest of which is called Concussions and Our Kids…Stan Charles, known far and wide as Stan the Fan, joins us as well. He is the proprietor of the Press Box Digital Network, including the site devoted to all things Baltimore Sports: press box online.comAnd we invite your thoughts on the NFL, the Ravens, the Superbowl, and all things football…Today's conversation was live-streamed on WYPR's Facebook page.Email us at [email protected], tweet us: @MiddayWYPR, or call us at 410-662-8780.
