Middle School Moms --The Most Stressed of All
from Psych Up Live · host Dr. Suzanne B. Phillips
In this episode, Dr. Suniya Luthar reports on the findings of a survey study of 2.247 well-educated mothers whose children ranged in age from infants to early adults. Dr. Luthar and her colleague, Dr. Ciciolla wondered if the mothers' adjustment and wellbeing changed over the course of their child's development. Their findings are surprising. They find that the moms of children in middle school are the most stressed and report feeling lonely, empty and dissatisfied in their parenting role. Listen in to find out why middle school moms have a more difficult time than moms of infants or teens? Find out what aspects of the mothering role are most stressful during a child's pre-teen years and what moms can do to prevent and reduce their stress both alone and together.
