During his first stint they released hit singles such as Vienna, Dancing with Tears in My Eyes and Reap the Wild Wind and also co-wrote the Band Aid hit Do They Know It's Christmas with Bob Geldof. In his early career he played with Rich Kids, Visage and Thin Lizzy. As a solo artist he has recorded nine albums with his debut, The Gift from 1985 placing number 2 on the UK charts.
