Midterm Poll, Scott leaves GBC, University Lecture, Sports, Nautilus Project Podcast

from Gibraltar Today

A midterm poll, conducted by GBC with Mediatel, suggests a significant swing - in voting intentions - to the GSD, but it’s still all to play for ahead of the next election due to the many who don’t know how they’d vote. At the midway point in the electoral cycle, we asked over 1,000 respondents about their voting intentions in face-to-face interviews over nine days earlier this month. News editor Christine Vasquez went over the findings. Kelly-Anne Borge is hosting today’s episode because the Gibraltar Today presenter and Senior Broadcast journalist Jonathan Scott is leaving GBC to take up the post of UK representative and head of Gibraltar House in London, previously held by Dominique Searle. We spoke to Jonathan in the studio from a different mic than what he’s used to.Local researcher and advocate for wildlife and conservation, Professor Julia Fa, will deliver her inaugural Beacon Professor Lecture tomorrow at the University of Gibraltar. Her talk, titled “Edge of Two Continents: Enabling People and Nature Across the Western Mediterranean”, will explore how people and nature can coexist sustainably across the region. Our Sports recap with Robin Sheppard-Capurro is dominated by the international football fixtures this weekend, as the GFA took on Croatia which ultimately ended with a loss 3-0. This weekend also saw the end of the paddle tournament, and the third event hosted by the Gibraltar Shore Gigging and Spinning Fishing club. The Nautilus Project, the marine conservation charity, is teaming up with podcaster Michelle Rugeroni to create a new Nautilus Podcast, bringing you marine science from all around the world.
