Next, a celebration of one of those lives with the renaming of a Kanata skate park: Alex Scott takes us inside the newly-minted Blair Aiken Skateboard Park.In education, Allie Cruzado sat down with a member of Carleton University’s student union to talk Ontario’s Bill 33 and what students need to know. Then, a report from the frontlines of a protest against both historic and current corruption in The Phillipines.Rounding out the first half was everybody’s favourite topic, Ottawa’s transit system. We heard from Barrhaven East Councillor Wilson Lo about electric additions to the city’s fleet, and why they might not be the silver bullet riders are looking for.In the bottom of the hour, Allison Young and Holly Joth-Smith took us to Stittsville for a recap of one of the Ottawa Valley’s biggest festivals, one butter tart at a time.Clarisa Gonzalez and Marilyn Madlion sat down with journalist and Toronto Metropolitan University professor Sonya Fatah about her live journalism show depicting drone surveillance in Gaza—coming to Carleton Sept. 25 after a United Kingdom premiere earlier this year.Our next item took us to Parliament Hill for a protest against what organizers call both the actions and inaction of Prime Minister Mark Carney’s government on climate change, human rights, and public service cuts. Then, a free event in Vincent Massey Park blending nature with art.Rounding out the show, Matthew Garwolinski spoke with Omeasoo Wahpasiw, an Indigenous Studies professor at Carleton, about what to know, expect, and keep in mind on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Sept. 30.The first show of the season, as expected, came with its fair share of hangups and speed bumps, from technical difficulties to pre-show jitters.
