Mika Habel: Heart of the Gamecocks Rise | Gamecocks Basketball News

South Carolina men’s soccer is on fire, riding a six-game winning streak fueled by senior midfielder Mika Habel’s explosive play and leadership. Already tied for his career-high in points with two goals and four assists, Habel dominates the right flank with his dynamic chemistry alongside junior Alejandro Velazquez-Lopez, creating constant scoring chances. But his impact goes beyond offense—he’s a relentless defender, earning Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week after two shutouts. Coach Tony Annan calls him the kind of person he’d want his own child to be, praising his work ethic and resilience. Habel, humble and focused, sees leadership as his duty and insists every game matters—no distractions, just execution. As the Gamecocks soar, Habel keeps them grounded, one match at a time.
