In 2014, he was paralyzed from the waist down after a catastrophic injury, which he says shattered his identity and ego. After truly getting saved, Smith says he was attacked by a dark spiritual entity that stood in front of him and reached out to touch him. He believed he was about to die. A Bible verse on the full armor of God flooded his mind — feet shod with the gospel, the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the sword of the Spirit, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation. He rebuked Satan with the blood of Jesus Christ and the entity disappeared. Earlier, he had rebuked the same entity "in the name of Jesus," and it laughed at him. He identifies the blood of Christ as the difference. As a lifelong martial artist, Smith says he had never felt that kind of fear, because he did not know how to fight spiritually. He stresses closing spiritual doors — drugs, pornography, unforgiveness, generational curses — and using the blood of Christ and the Word to bind and break them. He highlights forgiveness as essential, noting that holding unforgiveness damages the person holding it more than the offender. God later led him to read the Book of Enoch, which he says changed how he understood Genesis 6, the Nephilim, and spiritual realities.
