The U.S. economy showed more signs of weakness in August, adding just 22,000 jobs. The latest Bureau of Labor Statistics report also revised earlier numbers, cutting 279,000 jobs from May through July, including a rare payroll decline of 13,000 in June—the first since the pandemic.
