Mike’s Balls: A Phantasm III Experience

"Xenomania Episode Twelve: The Tall Man's Long Game" In this episode, Jon, Ryan, and Kearns take a wild ride through Phantasm III: Lord of the Dead, the bizarre and often overlooked installment of Don Coscarelli’s cult horror saga. They break down the film’s surreal dream logic, its shift into action-horror, and the return of A. Michael Baldwin as Mike. Expect deep dives into the Tall Man’s ever-expanding army of silver spheres, Reggie's transition into full-on shotgun-wielding action hero, and the introduction of Rocky—perhaps the most badass nunchaku-wielding character in horror. The hosts debate whether Phantasm III leans too far into camp or if its wild tonal shifts only add to the series' charm. Plus, they explore the ongoing mystery of the Tall Man’s grand plan—does this sequel reveal more about his nightmarish dimension, or just deepen the existential dread? Tune in for cult horror insights, some inevitable Reggie Bannister appreciation, and a whole lot of love for weird, low-budget horror that dares to be different.
