Military Caregivers - War changes Lives - Precious Goodson

Precious Goodson is an Educator, Speaker, Scholar, Blogger, Writer, and Leader in the military community. She is a military caregiver to a combat-wounded veteran, and advocates for military families. Her husband served for 17 years in the military service and sustained mental and physical wounds during this last tour to Afghanistan. In 2010, she resigned from her job as an elementary school teacher to care for her husband. For the past nine and-a-half years, she has served as his primary caregiver and has advocated for his health care and well-being. She was selected in 2015-2016 to serve as a Caregiver Dole Fellow with the Elizabeth Dole Foundation to be a voice for military caregivers. In 2016 she founded the blog, “A Military Caregiver’s Journey: War Changes Lives,” to share her story of military caregiving with the world. She believes this blog will serve as a resource that may be helpful to others in similar situations. She holds an EdD in Instructional Design and an MEd in Educational Technology, and her recent research explored the usefulness of an eLearning curriculum for military caregivers of service members and veterans with invisible injuries. She has received scholarly recognition for this research, and recently presented these findings at a conference in Phoenix, Arizona. She presently serves as a Caregiver Dole Fellow Alumna for the state of Georgia. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, spending time with her family, and writing.
