Mills Godwin Tennis and Basketball Coach Mark Seidenberg

from UVA and NOVA Legends Podcasts® · host Julian Brown

In this episode, we’re joined by Mark Seidenberg, a name many of us recognize as the crafty boys’ basketball coach at Mills Godwin, where his Eagles made a name for themselves as giant killers over the years. But recently, Coach Seidenberg has received well-deserved recognition for his incredible success as a tennis coach, earning a spot in the 2025 VHSL Hall of Fame class. His tenure at Godwin includes an astonishing 16 consecutive regional championships and 11 state titles. He also led the boys’ team at his alma mater, Douglas Freeman, to a state championship and reached the state final four additional times at Godwin. Coach Seidenberg sits down with me to discuss his coaching philosophy, the differences between coaching tennis and basketball, some of the great coaches and players he's had the privilege to work with and compete against, and what his induction into the Hall of Fame means to him. It was a honor connecting with such a distinguished coach!
