NewsMILWAUKEE—A 25-year-old man shot into a crowd on July Fourth—killing two gang members and two innocent bystanders—as revenge because gang members had beaten him and taken his watch, according to a criminal complaint charging three men.Antonio D. Williams, 25, and Rosario C. Fuentez, 24, face four felony charges of first-degree reckless homicide in the early morning incident on the city’s north side. James R. Washington, 28, was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm.Police have arrested Fuentez and he confessed to his involvement, as well as the involvement of the two others, according to the criminal complaint charging the three Milwaukee men. The complaint was filed late Friday.Police were still looking for Williams and Washington, who has previous drug convictions.“We believe both of these individuals may still be local and both they and their weapons are still on the streets of Milwaukee,” Capt. David Zibolski said Monday. Police won’t know the full extent of the motives until they are all in custody, he said.Police spokeswoman Anne E. Schwartz said the three are believed to be the main perpetrators. There is more to the case than what is in the criminal complaint, Zibolski said.Fuentez was quoted in the complaint saying Williams asked him to help retaliate against members of the “Murda Mobb” because some of them beat him and took his watch. Police Chief Edward Flynn has described “Murda Mobb” as a drug-running gang originally from Chicago.The pair and Williams drove a minivan to the area of a crowd of people on the street—Fuentez with a handgun and Washington and Williams with SKS assault rifles, according to the complaint.They hid between houses for about eight minutes, watching the people. Fuentez told authorities Williams then walked near the crowd and fired, the complaint said. Fuentez also admitted firing above the crowd, the complaint said. The three ran back to the minivan, drove away and Williams said he thought he had shot a woman in the head, the complaint said.Killed were Jacoby Claybrooks, 28; Kendrick Jackson, 34; Mariella Fisher, 27; and Theresa Raddle, 23. Two others were injured.Flynn has said the two male victims were targeted as Murda Mobb members and the two women appeared to have been caught in the spray of bullets. Relatives of the two males have told reporters the men were not gang members.Two days after the murders, Flynn said officers were staying vigilant for a retaliatory strike.“Today the Milwaukee Police Department is informing the Murda Mobb we are taking your neighborhood away from you,” he said. “You are going to see more police officers in your neighborhood than you’ve seen before and we’re shutting you down.”No lawyers were listed in online records for the three men. The Milwaukee County Jail did not have an attorney listed for Fuentez on Monday evening.A telephone number in Fuentez’s name was disconnected. Telephone numbers for Washington and Williams could not be found.
