Mind Change Life Change Principle 2: Earnestly believe that God exists, that I matter to Him and that He has the power to help me recover. "Happy are those whose mourn, for they shall be comforted." Matthew 5:4 (TEV) Step 2: We came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. "For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose." Philippians 2:13 (NIV) WHY I MUST MANAGE MY MIND Because my thoughts CONTROL my life. Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it springs the issues of life.  (Proverbs 4:23 NKJV) Because the mind is the BATTLEGROUND for sin. I love to do God's will so far as my new nature is concerned; but there is something else deep within me…that is at war with my mind and wins the fight and makes me a slave to the sin within me.  In my mind I want to be God's servant, but instead I find myself still enslaved to sin."   (Romans 7:22-23 TLB) Because the mind is the key to PEACE and happiness. So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.  (Romans 8:6 NLT) THREE DAILY CHOICES FOR A HEALTHY MIND I must feed my mind with TRUTH. But He answered and said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.'"  (Matthew 4:4 NKJV) I must free my mind from destructive THOUGHTS. Those who are dominated by their sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. (Romans 8:5 NLT) I must focus my mind on the RIGHT things. Think about all He endured when sinful people did such terrible things to Him, so that you don't become weary and give up.  (Hebrews 12:3 TLR)
