Mind over body

from Rise Again From The Struggle · host Kevin Brewer

Somebody will definitely play victim on this one and tell me how this isn't always true. Before you do, I didn't say always. I will say I've witnessed both sides. My dad and my aunt were both diagnosed with lung cancer at the same time. One accepted her fate, and the other fought like hell. My aunt died in months, and my dad lived for a few more years. Ironically, listening to doctors about nutrition is what actually killed him, too. It wasn't even the cancer that got him.So yes, I do believe this holds true. When you "own" your body's ailments, they become part of your identity. It's hard to defeat something when you keep telling yourself it is part of you. It's not you, though. Remember that. You can regain your health. You can lose weight. You can become a better version of yourself. You just have to separate these things from your identity. No excuses!
