What are you? Okay, that's... Rhett's doing a sparkly gesture around the microphone. Yeah, it was this.
It was supposed to be like, here's the intro sound, now go. Oh. Oh. Kind of like bloop bloop bloop.
Oh, I thought maybe you were starting a flashback or like casting a spell. Either way, it's the cue for you to talk. Okay. Well, hi everyone.
Welcome to another miniature episode of the Morbid Moment. A Morbid blink of time. A Morbid morsel. Delicious.
We may have made that joke before, but I still like it. For those of you who might be new to the show, we alternate every two weeks between doing a full length in-depth episode and a smaller, lighter episode that gives us a chance to like, share personal stories and fun behind the scenes stuff, or in the case of this episode, tell you the story of something spooky, that's awesome, but not necessarily dense enough to take up a whole hour. It's story time. And today's story is...
Co-chae. Co-chae. Co-chae. Co-chae.
Co-chae the immortal immediately. Also known as Co-chae the deathless. Oh, that's snazzy. It sounds like it could be a Quentin Tarantino film.
I was gonna say that sounds very, very connection. This topic was actually inadvertently given to us by one of your English language learning students from Russia. She's pointing at me. I am.
Red. Yes. Can you tell us how this came about? Yeah, sure.
Oh, hang on, let me do the flashback, wavy lines. Woo, woo, woo, woo. Once upon a time, I was bullshitting with one of my English students. She's from Russia.
She's hilarious. And I was showing her one of the art projects that I'd done about Baba Yaga, which threw my student into a frenzy, first in correcting me in my pronunciation, because even though every human that I have ever talked to about Baba Yaga has called her Baba Yaga, I don't think any of them were Russian, because she couldn't believe that I said Baba Yaga because it's Baba Yaga. Okay. And that has blown my mind.
Even though being Russian, she's probably right. Yeah. But as Americans, no, it's Baba Yaga. Right.
Like everybody knows she's like, it's Baba Yaga. Okay. So yeah, so and then in talking about Baba Yaga, she brought up Koshay, which I think it's, I think it's Koshay, but it's been long enough that I have absolutely no real idea. I cannot remember.
She did correct my pronunciation on Koshay several times. I just can't remember what it was corrected to, but she told me about Koshay being kind of the other common antagonist figure in a lot of their stories, but the kind of the male counterpart to Baba Yaga. Right. And if there is one thing I've learned from your student, it's that I will get all of these names wrong.
Like I will not pronounce them correct, because there are letters and sounds in Russian and in the Slavic languages that I just don't understand, or you'll just straight up call them Koshay, like you keep doing. Or I'll call them Koshay. It's Koshay. It's a soft sort of shah.
But it may be a hard shah. But it might be a hard shah. Because Russian, yeah. There are other languages like Polish and stuff where he shows up, but I know that even less than I know Russian, which is sad because I'm a large percentage Polish.
So am I. I had a Polish great grandmother who would always yell at us for our pronunciation, but she was not helpful in learning Polish. No. She would just yell at us for getting it wrong.
And then the only thing that she refused to teach us Polish aside from swear words. With that background. So yeah, Koshay seemed like a very interesting dude that I'd actually never heard of when I've heard plenty about Baba Yaga. So I did a little bit of research.
Yeah. Oh, a little bit of research. A little bit of research. Another tagline for our series.
More in a moment. Researched a little bit. To my credit, it is a Russian folk story. And you know, Russian fairy tales.
So you know, you kind of have to find whatever has been translated into English on the internet, which is not always easy. And the timing of this is just so to where I couldn't consult with my Russian student before this episode. But I will be consulting with her pretty much immediately after this goes up where she will yell at us for everything. We did wrong.
Right. And it's probably going to be a lot. Here's what I have learned. Koshay is a, like you said, a male figure in Slavic folklore.
Basically, the bad guy archetype in a lot of fairy tales from that whole area. He's usually kidnapping the hero's wife. OK. That's his thing.
But sometimes he also like curses beautiful women for not meeting his demands. Great. He's typically described as tall, spindly, old man, usually very hideous. OK.
He's got long tangled hair and unblinking reptilian eyes. Oh. And a big beak-like nose. All right.
I dig it. Very drawable. Yep. Mouthful of large crooked teeth.
Hint artists gal on this. Yep. So far I am picturing the Rasputin character from the animated. You should stop picturing immediately because you're going to get into a very bad place.
He has a thing for riding around the mountains by naked. Honest magical horse. Oh, I regret. You should.
I regret. It's exactly as hideous as your picturing. Oh. Fact, it's probably worse.
Please draw him waist up. Actually, there is art of him full nude. But he has tastefully turned away from the camera so that you can see his butt, but not the stuff going on in front. So, OK.
Safe for work, I guess. Maybe not. I take that back. OK.
If you send us art, please don't be weird. Censor any junk you put in. Censor that junk. Or a moment.
Censor the junk. So on top of riding around in the nude. Should you see a magical horse? Yeah.
He rides around on a magical horse. Oh, cool. You can talk. Oh, cool.
You know. Magical ride super fast. And he likes to do that and terrify everyone with his blood-curdling screams. I kind of feel like I know this guy.
He seems like an old-timey lives in the mountains. Not a troll. But like a troll. Yeah.
Like not a mountain troll. But like a dude in the mountains who is a huge troll. And the descriptions of him vary from story to story a little bit. Sometimes they say like his arms and legs will like drag behind him as he's riding on the horse because they're so long.
Sometimes they say that he like wears robes of tattered fish skin that he'll like throw off of himself and like birds will come and try to eat the pieces behind him. OK. So just he's full of like gross and scary. Nasty dude.
Nasty dude. All right. He's an evil sorcerer and a shapeshifter. A crochet with more like gross.
Shh. A coach shouldn't have tried to make that into a pun. Co should go back to reading now. Go shower.
We finally got to run. Good. I'm glad we could workshop that live here in the middle of the episode. Not throwing off the rhythm of anything at all.
A shapeshifter. Evil sorcerer. Got it. He has the ability to turn into a whirlwind or a storm at will.
Co, all right. Got it. And some depictions he's like a nature spirit that represents the destructive power of nature. OK.
So I'm going to start a Baba Yaga and that they're both. Baba Yaga. They're both powerful sorcerers to whom humans are but play things. But he's generally completely evil whereas Baba Yaga is more of chaotic neutral.
Yeah. From what I remember her saying at least verifying the like, yeah, like she's always into eating kids. But like who isn't? No, not here.
But she will sometimes like help out the hero if she feels like it or like you can get some information from her sometimes whereas Co, she is more of a just a bad guy. Bad guy, bad guy, bad guy. The stories in general seem to put him like a rank or two below Baba Yaga as far as like how powerful he is or how important he is. Like for example, he has to negotiate with Baba Yaga for to get what he wants.
As opposed to just like whirlwinding in and stealing shit from her. OK. But the really fun thing about Co, she is that he's immortal because he basically hit his soul somewhere separate from his body. Yeah.
This is the part that she told me a little bit about. The traditional canon states that he hit his soul in a needle, which is already pretty hard to find. And then he hit that needle in an egg. Yep.
And then he hit that egg in a duck. Yep. And then he hit that duck in a hair, which is in an iron chest, which is buried under an oak tree, which is on an island in the middle of the ocean. Basically the turducken of horse cruxes.
Oh my god. Did I? I think he did it. Did I do that right?
I think he did it. And so if someone manages to find this chest, you know, dig under the right tree, open it up, the hair will run away. And if they manage to catch and kill the hair, the duck will come out and it'll try to fly away. And then if they manage to catch and or kill the duck and get the egg out, then they will finally have some power over Co, and he will begin to weaken and lose his magical powers.
And there's some stuff where he like throw the egg. Co, she will also get thrown across the room. And then if you break the needle, he finally dies. Yeah, that's that's the part that I heard is that you have to break the egg and then break the needle.
Yes. And that's the only way to kill him. Co, is called Co, the immortal or Co, the deathless because he's really goddamn hard to kill. Yeah, he's a wily motherfucker.
Now, for your entertainment today, I'm going to tell you a Russian fairy tale called the death of Co, the deathless. And then this one, his needle in an egg and a duck and a hair and an iron chest in the ocean thing doesn't actually apply. This one, they don't really use those rules. So don't get too hyped for the for the Russian nesting doll of.
Damn, I was hiding. OK, I know. It sounds really exciting, but this was one of the few stories about him that I could find translated into English. So got it.
You know, I'm working with what I got. This was fun. You'll like it. OK.
I'll be paraphrasing a bit because it is quite long. OK, it likes to do things in threes where it will say that this thing happened over like three times with only slight differences in between it. So OK, but I will also link to the full story on our Facebook page. Go to facebook.com and then search for more of involvement podcast.
And it'll be the first one that pops up. And you can read the entire story there with all of its beautiful words and not as paraphrasing. So let me let me settle here. Sorry time.
I'm ready for story time. So once upon a time, there was this guy named Prince Ivan. Can I stop you? Yes, it's not Ivan.
Here we go. I was at Yvonne. God damn it's Yvonne. I knew it.
The first fucking name of the game. Well, the second technically, if you count Cauchy, yeah, there's no such thing as Boris or Ivan. Yeah, it's Boris and Yvonne. So there's this guy named Prince Ivan.
He had three sisters who all had names. But you're not going to try. You know, maybe I can get away with not doing it now. Oh, no, if you have them, you got to read them.
OK, so we had three sisters, Princess Maria. OK, Princess Olga and Princess Anna. What do you think? You're side-eyeing me a little hard.
I'm side-eyeing, but I don't know the Russian pronunciations well enough to actually say them correctly. OK, we're getting away with it for now. OK. Now, their mother and father were very old.
And shortly before passing away, they told Prince Ivan to give his sisters to the very first suitors who showed up to try to marry them. Oh, great. Don't be a sad boy and try to keep your sisters to yourself. Just like, let them go.
If you love them, let them go. Prince Ivan is kind of clingy and sad. OK, so this will be a running theme. OK, he's a sad boy.
After their deaths, Prince Ivan was being sad and walking with his sisters in the garden when all this on this big storm appeared. And he felt and swooped down very dramatically, with thunder and lightning and I think ceiling like cracked open. And it was all nuts. He flew down on the ground and turned into a handsome man.
Does it? How old was he? Man, he's not like 16. No, he's not like.
Well, the other Falcon of my heart. Which other Falcon? Oh, I forgot you weren't into Animorphs. Yeah, this is a great.
OK, some Tobias fan out there. Just we can say for the Tobias fans that he looked exactly like Tobias. Whatever. That's a kind of an under agent weird now, though.
Let's pop him up to 20. OK, maybe 22 to be safe. OK. And drink some.
He can drink of the US. Hands a man. So the Falcon man, he was like, hey, yo, I'm here to hook up with Princess Maria and Prince Ivan, Prince Ivan. I'm going to say his name like that every goddamn time.
Prince Ivan was like, cool. OK, yeah, if that's what she wants, that's cool. You guys can totally get married. Just scam her off now.
Princess gave her consent and she married the Falcon guy. OK, OK, so it wasn't like, just throw your sister at the first guy to show up. It was like a let them run off with the first person they want to run off with. Yeah, OK.
This story did go out of its way to say that she was like, yeah, I love to marry this hot chick. I mean, hot guy. Oh, that's a different story. Freud alert.
Freud alert. I'm sorry. Well, this is already a mess. This is supposed to be short.
You fool. OK, so they go off and they get married. And it's great. Cool.
A whole year later, Prince Ivan and his two sisters, went walking through the garden again. When a big storm appeared again. Lightning crashing. Yeah, boom.
Two of three. Dramatic. Out of nowhere. An eagle swooped down to the sky and turned into another hunky dude.
Please tell me that the third one's a tear daggle. Maybe I'll change it just for you. Thank you. So he asked for Princess Olga's hand in marriage.
And Prince Ivan agreed again. And the two were married. And the eagle guy swooped him off to work in them. You said swooped him off.
Motherfucker. I'm sorry. Everything's just coming up gay. This is the worst way gayer than I thought it was going to be.
I'm going to start offending people in this way. OK. A year later again, this happened again with his last sister. A raven guy swooped down.
And he turned into the most handsomeest man yet. And he asked to marry Princess Anna and Prince Ivan said yes. And the two left and so the raven guy's kingdom. And that's how it went.
Cool. So for a year, Prince Ivan lived without his sisters. And he got super lonely and bummed out. And he eventually.
Sounds like that is his thing. Yeah. That's his deal. He eventually decided to go look for them and go say hi.
I should probably check up on them. So if they want to fail a reunion, meet up with the holidays, maybe. Yeah. Still a pretty much anymore.
I celebrate my birthday. And this you guys. So he wrote out for a while and eventually came across a field full of dead soldiers. Whoa.
And he was like, wow, who wasted this army? And some soldier guy answered that the army was slain by the fair princess, Mariah. Mar, hang on. Marevna.
OK. Mariah, Marevna. I'm going with it. This is not the Princess Mariah from earlier in the story.
Oh, oh. They are two different princesses. Princess Mariah and Princess Mariah. Marevna are two different people.
Oh. This is just some other princess. Some other princesses. OK.
So he went to go meet her and she was super cool. And they hit it off. And she ended up taking him to her kingdom, where they spent many years together, very happily married. Oh, all right.
She's like, hey, you. And he's like, meh. Like, yeah, you stand boy. Come here.
You're mine now. I was like, OK. Hello. Yeah, you're really cool.
I like how you stand up to people and slay an entire army. I think I say it all the time. That's really cool. That's really cool.
Wow. Eventually, Mariah Marevna decided to go off to war again. All right. That's what she'd do.
Sounds like that's what she'd do, yeah. She handed overall the housekeeping affairs to Prince Yvonne because that's what he'd do. Great. But told him, very specifically, whatever you do while I'm gone, do not look in that closet over there.
Uh oh. Like, you can do anything else. Anything at all. Anything at all.
Just don't look in that one closet over there. This is a fairy tale you idiot. Don't do this. Or the second she was gone.
Like, as soon as she was out the door. God damn it. He rushed over to the closet, pulled open the door, and found Coache hanging there, fettered by 12 chains, because fairy tales like to give dramatic importance to the number of things that are around. OK.
Coache was like, hey, dude. I've been hanging here for 12 years. Oh, 12 years, 12 chains. I got it.
Yeah. It's basically torture. I haven't had anything to eat or drink in literally over a decade. So can you help a brother out with some water?
So Prince Yvonne took pity on him and brought him a bucket of water, which he drank. And then he asked for another one. And then another one. Oh.
Until finally, his strength returned, and he busted out the chains. And he's all like, ha ha. Now you'll never see your wife again. And he flew out the window as a whirlwind.
Great. Great. Congratulations. You let it out.
So outside, he snatched up Mario Morabna and carried her off to his home. And Prince Yvonne wept a lot. Good. Because he does that a lot in the story.
He cries a lot in the story. OK, well, he deserved it this time. He was kind of a loser. But eventually, he decided that he should go look for Mario.
Good. He was like, OK. I was like, wait, you know, I guess I don't know what I'm going to do. But I'm just going to sort of send off and start looking.
Great. As he wandered out to find her, he ran into each of the birdmen from earlier in the story and reunited with each of his sisters for a few days. Family reunion. OK.
As he left their houses, the couples demanded that he give them a silver spoon, a silver fork, and his silver snuff box in that order. Oh, OK. They weren't like, as he meets each sister, they're like, well, help you or anything. They're like, hey, give me a present.
Well, they did that because for whatever reason, I don't know if it's magic. I don't know if this is a cultural superstition. But basically, by giving them this piece of silver, they could see him in the reflection and check out what he's doing. OK.
Sort of know how his deal was going on. OK, that's very different. Or that's very important to note. Yes.
So when he finally found Mario Moravna, she ran up to a man hug him and was like, oh my god, why did you disobey me and open the closet and let out co-shade the death list. And Prince Yvonne was straight up like, yeah, that's my bad. But let's let bygons be bygons and focus on getting out of here instead. OK.
And I'm like, Yvonne, no, can we talk about this? You're fucked up, kid. It's like, no, no, that's in the past. We got to go.
Let's think about the now. No, let's think about how you let death itself out of a closet. So they ran away. Co-shade had been out hunting.
So when he got back home, his horse came to a sudden stop. And he was like, of course, why are you stopping? Like, it's something up. And the horse answered because he was a magical talking horse.
Well, yeah. Actually, the horse has some very long thing. Like, we could milk a cow and then churn that milk into butter and then spread it on some toast and eat it and still have time to catch up with him. Really?
Yes. He says like three separate things that are just like that. Like, we could harvest the hops and then make it into beer and then do the whole fermenting process. I could drink it.
I could drink it three times before. And then we'd still have plenty of time to catch him. OK. So it was basically like, hell, yeah.
Cool. I got this. I'm a cool horse. So Co-shade caught up with Prince Yvonne and told him, OK, since you were a nice guy and gave me all that water to drink, I will forgive you this time and next time.
But because we like the rule of three in fairy tales, the third time I catch you, I will chop you to bits. So wait, he said this time you're off the hook and the next time? Yeah. So after threatening him that on the third time, he done fucked up and he'll like kill him.
He steals Mario. He dropped a bit. Right. He steals Mario and Morabina back, takes him back to his house.
Oh, so it's not you're off the hook. I'm not going to kill you, but I'm still taking your way. Oh, yes. Oh, OK.
Yes, yes. Got it. And then the prince sat down and cried again. I'm not joking.
Hey, you know what though? At least he has a heart. He does have a heart that is a running theme in this, that he seems to be a nice guy. And I kind of get some through things.
OK. So after crying, he gets up and he tries to rescue Mario Morabina again. Long story short, basically, the exact same thing happens. He gets caught.
Coache is like, that's your second warning. I'm stealing your wife again. He goes back to his house. OK.
And then Prince Yvonne tries to steal her back again. And then Coache catches him. And this time, he does exactly what he said. He catches up with him.
He chops him into little pieces. Oh, no. Puts those pieces in a barrel, smears it with pitch, finds it with iron hoops. And then throws it into the ocean.
Oh my. Because if we've learned anything about Coache, it's that he's very thorough. He also really likes putting things in other things. Yes.
Coache puts things in other things. Now, back at the houses of the bird guys. OK. And they're lovely wives.
With the seeing spoons. With the seeing spoons. Yes, the couples saw them turn tarnished and black. Mm.
And so they knew that some bad shit had gone down. So the eagle hurried off to the ocean to grab the barrel that was full of Prince Yvonne's remains. And then the falcon flew off to find the water of death. I don't know.
The water of death. Do we know what? No. OK.
They never explain where that is, what that is. Water of death. Water of death, capital, W, capital D. Water of death.
And then the raven flew off to find the water of life. Makes sense. Same deal, sure. And then they were basically able to combine all these things in a blender.
Well, they put Ivan back together to sort of put all his pieces back where they were supposed to be. And then they poured the water of death on him and all the pieces like mushed back together. And then they put the water of life on him and he came back to life. Oh.
Easy, right? So he was like a jigsaw puzzle. Yes, he was. OK.
All right. OK. You're welcome. Now, this time, Prince Ivan went off to save Mariam Ravena again, but he was less of a dummy about it this time.
When he met her, and she was like, oh my god, you're alive. He's like, he has a long story. So he has a lot of pieces. So many.
He asked her to ask Koshay where he got his sweet magical horse from. Mm, OK. So when Koshay was in a good mood and she thought that she could get away with it, she asked Koshay about his sweet horse. And he told her that beyond thrice nine lands in the 13th kingdom on the other side of a fiery river, Baba Yaga, kept a bunch of really cool magical horses.
I see. So at one point in time, Koshay watched her herds for three days without losing a single one. And in exchange, she gave him a full to keep his own. And that's where he got his sweet magical horse.
OK. When she asked how he got over the fiery river, he told her that he had a magical handkerchief, that he could wave three times, and a bridge would appear, and he could just cross it, and he wouldn't get set on fire. I see. So she stole the handkerchief, gave it to Prince Ivan, and then told him the deets.
Got it. And he's like, OK, we got time to go meet Baba Yaga. All right. He set off to go find her, and he traveled for a really long time, got super, super hungry because it was a long ass trip, and he did not pack any snacks at a time.
No smart jerky for him. No trail mix. All right. That's like adventuring 101, but whatever.
Well, we all know that he's maybe not the best at like plans or adventuring. So on the way there, he ran into this weird bird, and it's little bird kids. And he was like, I am totally going to eat one of those weird little chickens. Oh, no.
And then the bird said, no, don't eat me. Spare me. And I'll do you a solid later. And he's like, OK, OK.
OK. All right, I won't eat you, especially since you can talk. So they moved on until they found a beehive in the forest. And he was like, oh, sweet.
I'm totally going to eat some of that honeycomb. And the bee was like, don't disturb my hive. Spare me. And I will help you later.
And he's like, fuck, OK. Sure. All right. All right.
Magical animals. And then he moved on and he came across a lion and her cubs. And he was like, god damn, I am so hungry. I'm guessing I could eat when I was lying cubs.
And the mom was like, don't eat my babies. Spare them. And I'll help you out later. And he's like, I'm going to fucking lie.
And you want this favor. You want this favor. And he's like, OK, yeah, I'm a good guy. I won't eat your kids.
I'm really hungry. He probably cried a little on the way there. So we finally got past the river of fire, did the handkerchief three times thing, made a bridge crossed it. And then he got to Baba Yaga's house on the other side.
All right. Around her house where 12 poles in a circle and on top of 11 of them was a human head. And the 12th was empty. Oh, waiting him.
Yes. The 12th was like foreshadowing. Yeah, like you don't have to. Like that's a pretty clear message.
Like you show up. They got a head on every pipe except one. You're like, oh, that's a message specifically to me, isn't it? So he was like, Sup Baba Yaga.
And she was like, hey kid. And he told her that he came there to earn a really cool horse because he hated it. And so she told him, if you can watch my horses for three days and not lose any of them, I will give you one. But if you lose any of them, I will put your head on a bike.
You are piked. So she fed him and then sent him along on his business. The first day, the horses all ran away from him when he got close and just scattered to the four corners of the forest. And Prince Yvonne sat down and cried again.
God damn it. Again, not kidding. That's in the story. Get your shit together, Yvonne.
But then the weird bird from earlier flew up to him and told him he and his weird bird friends all herded the horses back to Baba Yaga's house. OK. So when Prince Ivan went back to the house, Baba Yaga was super pissed at her horses for coming back because she's like, she's supposed to stab her. She's like, I need another pike.
There's one empty, you guys. This was the deal. And the horses were all like, but birds swarmed at us and tried to peck out our eyes. We couldn't do anything.
So the next day. She's mom. The next day, something similar happened, where the horses all scattered when he tried to herd them. But this time, as he was crying, the lion came up to him and told him that I ate the horses.
They were delicious. You're welcome. No, that they had herded the horses back to Baba Yaga's house and that he was going to be OK. Same thing happened.
He got back. She was crying. He kissed at the horses. So the third day, the horses all scattered and ran neck deep into a fucking river.
Thanks, guys. And he sat down and cried so hard that the sun went down and the moon came up. He cried the sun down? He cried like all fucking day.
Oh, not like he cried so hard that he literally changed. I thought he cried so hard. The sun was like, oh no. No, the sun sank.
This guy's fucking depressing. OK, I got it. He just cried for so long that it became nighttime. I see.
But then the bee came up to him and was like, hey, man, it's cool. I got you. We stung all the horses back to Baba Yaga's house. But she's really pissed.
So here's what I need you to do. And so he told Prince Yvonne to go hide in Baba Yaga's stable instead of going back to meet her. Do not make eye contact with her. Do not let her know that you are there.
She will probably eat you. She's real pissed. She really wants that spike head. Do that.
And you will find a sad lame cult in the back rolling around in the mud. Like you'll see this little loser horse. It has it has Yvonne written all over it. You guys are going to be best.
That one is yours. So take that, steal it in the dead of night, and get the fuck out of here. I want to remind you this is being told to him by a bee. So how do you like this?
He's like, look, he's like, look, he's serious. Like she's really bad. She's really, you got to hide in the stable. Get busy and hide and steal yourself a little lame ass horse.
Buzz. OK. So he stole the horse. He hid.
He stole the horse and ran away in the dead of night. The next morning Baba Yaga was fucking pissed, because now he got away and stole water for horses. So she went off to go chase him. A little did she know that Prince Yvonne had waved his handkerchief twice instead of three times, which meant that the bridge that showed up was just kind of barely there bridge.
So when she tried to follow him over the bridge, it collapsed and she fell into the river of fire and died. Whoa. But I refuse to believe that she actually died, because she just comes back in every story. Yeah.
I got for life. Yeah. This is like a detour for her. Yes.
She'll be back. So once he was safely away from Baba Yaga, he let the horse eat grass and grow up. OK. So he just spent some time putting the pub and his stats into that horse, and he was just leveling it up.
Yeah. And then eventually it was a powerful horse, a very cool horse, probably with a very sleek mane and a sweet name like Lightning or Jasper, I don't know. So now with this cool ass horse, he wrote it out to go meet Maria Moravna and run away from Koshay with her one last time. When Koshay got back from hunting that time, his horse stopped and he asked his horse, what's going on?
And the horse is like, my spidey senses are tingling. Dude did it again. This time, what do you even do with a guy that you already said that you're going to kill? Are you going to have to come up with three more things?
Koshay. Gonna put that flea in a box and put that box in another box. And I will send that box to me. He asked this horse, like, do you think we can catch up to him this time?
And this time, the horse is like, nah, bro. I don't know. I don't know. He's got a really cool horse.
He's got another cool horse and he leveled that horse up. Yeah, I think that's a cooler horse than I am. Like, that horse is at least younger than he? Yeah.
I mean, it has been an unknown number of years since we last saw him. He has enough time to grow that horse up. So Koshay didn't like that answer. He's like, I'm going to do it anyway.
Fuck that guy. So he caught up with Prince Yvonne and tried to strike him down. But Prince Yvonne's new horse kicked Koshay in the head with his hoof and cracked his skull open. And then Prince Yvonne followed that up by killing him with his club.
And then they built a great big bonfire and burned his body and scattered his ashes to the forewinds to really make sure he was not going to come back. Then they took those ashes mixed with water, baked into a cake. Put that cake to a pig. Put that pig inside of a whale.
Sent that whale to the arctic or was frozen in an iceberg. Yeah, so after that, Mario and Moravna got to have Koshay's horse. Nice, because that's the lady that deserves that horse. That is.
And then Yvonne had his cool horse. And they both were like the cool horse guys. Happily ever after. The cool horse guys that killed Koshay the immortal.
Damn. And they have their cool bird befriending in was. Yeah, they had a big feast. And everyone was happy.
And then they were horses and the birds. But yeah, that is one of the stories involving Koshay the immortal. OK, scary guy that kills people's wives. So from what I've learned is that you either have to find the island, find the tree on the island, dig up the box, open the box, kill the hair, catch and kill the duck, break the egg, break the needle, or kick him in the head with a magic horse that you got from probably a guy.
Yeah, yeah, beat him up a little bit. To be fair. And then burn him. And then scatter his ashes.
To be fair, I think they're both equally hard. Both methods are good story adventure material. Oh, dang, I should write a campaign about this. Thanks for the idea.
That's not what I meant. Oh, wait. Before I get any second thoughts. That's not what I meant at all.
Everyone for listening to this mini episode of the morbid moment. We're on Facebook. I already told you how to get to it. We're on email morbidmomentpodcast.gmail.com.
Send us your ideas for topic suggestions for our main episodes or even topic suggestions for mini episodes if there's things that you're curious about. For example, we had the listener that gave us a bunch of smaller monster ideas from El Salvador. And that was super cool. Look back in our previous episode, Lesse Guinaba, for how that turned out.
Now we got a little bit of Russia. If anybody else has any other cultural things to introduce us to, I would love to. I love branching out to other. Bring me your monsters, your strange myths, your fairy tales.
That's what's written on my Statue of Liberty. I love it. Someone make a design for a shirt. I want to do that right now.
All right, Ren has to go and do that. I got to go, Troy. So I'm going to leave you all. Thank you for listening.
