King mini so baby. He's a little baby King me. Where's your where's your mom your pa? Well episode.
I don't know. You know, no, shouldn't you be in school? I guess. You're a baby.
Baby, so go to school. I'm poking holes in your story. You're a man, aren't you? No.
Say it. Yes. Oh, man. It's co-host Robbie.
I knew it. I knew you weren't a baby. You're taller than me. As Rob, I'm Dan, you know, we're doing a, we're doing a, we're doing a mini so.
So much has changed since we started doing the show and we've kind of like briefly touched on things. Yeah. We're going to do a little roundup of King news since, since we've started. Since we've started.
Well, we talked about cell. Yeah. We discussed the trailer for the cell movie. Right.
So what's happened? Dark Tower has been announced. Dark Tower is announced. Matthew McConaughey.
Idris Elba. Yeah. It's shaping up to be something pretty. Yeah.
I'm excited. I'm into it. Do you know anything about the source material? Are we allowed to talk about the source material in any sense?
I prefer not to. All right. Yeah. You're right.
I never wanted to. Do you know anything about the source material though? Without saying anything about it? Do you say yes or no?
That's right, that's right. No. I don't. Uh, no.
I wanted to say yes. Because, that's the good way to show access name. But he's the gunslinger. The day of the first Star Tower book is the gunslinger.
He's our protagonist. Matthew McConaughey will be playing our antagonist who.. I also forget his name. Full of J cobalt Packet's.
segment. Yeah. Really dodged a pc bullet there? gang?
Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. I'm into that too. I've seen some of those photos and stuff like that. It's a little Steam Funkety.
We'll see how this goes. Yeah, it was like, this is good. I think this is good also because like Idris Elba, everyone was not everyone, but you know that small corner of the internet that yells about fandoms, they felt that he should be- I need him for a bond. For James Bond, yeah.
And I don't know if this is necessarily the American equivalent of a James Bond. I don't think so. Who is? Like Jason Bourne.
Jason Bourne, yeah more so than the mission impossible guy. I don't know. It doesn't. That's all nonsense.
Point being he's getting like a multi movie deal. He's gonna be our hero. Love Idris Elba. He's got a face of love interest, Elba.
I have a lot of interest in it. That's like a weak pitch for a sketch. What about love interest, Elba? Is that anything?
I don't think so. That's, it couldn't be anything less. Yeah, I'm very, I'm very excited for him to like get to play that character. I know a little bit about the character.
I've read a few of the books. He's got a hell of a backstory. And I think Elba will do it justice. But Conne, hey, he could be a real snake, right?
He could be a bad guy. Yeah, he's a dirty so-and-so. Yeah, the man in black is sort of like a, he's like a wise crack and he's a taunter. Yeah, he can you do that?
Yeah. I think if I'm not mistaken, they end up in like a dark tower. Yeah, some sort of like tower. Like a, yeah, a tower, picture a tower but dark.
All right. Yes. No, they end up, I believe at one point, they're like sitting and having a conversation in a burial site, not unlike the Pet Semteri burial site. Cause the whole thing with the dark tower series is those very intertextual and it jumps from like book to book.
Like Stephen King story to Stephen King story kind of. And you know, I think Randall Flag is a character. I think we said that. I think Stephen King himself is actually a character.
Probably. Well, that's cute. You know what's funny is like now I'm groaning, but last week when Stephen King was in a movie getting to play off of his own characters, we were like, that's great. Okay, I do want to talk about this.
Just jumping off of dark tower stuff. I've turned a corner on Stephen King. Yeah, let's let's talk about how we both started off like, we're like, he's sort of a, when I was a kid, I love Stephen King movies. I tried reading a few of the books I couldn't get into it, but that's on me.
Yeah. I mean, he's very verbose. Right? His books are long generally.
They are, but I love the Stephen King movies. Then I got a little bit older. I became a bit of a shithead. And I was like, you know, be funny Dan.
Yeah, we always start a podcast where we break his balls. Okay. Yeah. What should we call it?
What's the dumbest book I think we could think of to call it? Yeah. And then we found that. And we started that show.
And here we are now, today. That's a fun piece. And hey, we've fallen back in love. Like any, like any good marriage.
Yeah, Stephen King. There we go. We've fallen kind of back in love with him. I, yeah.
I don't know. It's slowly been creeping up on me. I feel like, especially after seeing like, what solidified it was seeing the stand and seeing him so happy and stuff. And then like the other week it was his birthday.
Yeah. And I actually went on his Facebook page and he's just like, he's just an old man who likes the Red Sox. Yeah. It's just like hanging out and cracking steady jokes.
He's a good dude. He's friends with Stephen Colbert. What back can you say about a man like that? So apparently a lot.
I never hated him out now. No, but I think at a certain point, I don't know if it was Fatih, Tee Tee, Tee Tee. We know better. Right.
But I don't know. I've come back around. I appreciate it. I think the thing about the stand is that it's his first real exercise in world building.
Like in his horror stuff, he's especially in the movies because they're movies, not his books. It's playing off of horror trips a lot. So like our complaints with like the dark half, or not the dark half, the sleep walkers. Yeah.
How we talk about like them trying to turn the villains into like Freddy Krueger-wise crackers. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Those movies are sort of subject to the whim of the zeitgeist, like whenever they came out. Right.
But yeah, no, like seeing the stand and seeing him get to like realize his vision without being constrained to the parameters of like a genre, really. And granted, it's like, you know, sort of, there's some genre stuff happening there. There is, you know. He likes westerns a lot.
It seems like that comes up in the dark tower, Roland obviously is a gunslinger. And the world he comes from is super western. Right. But like, yeah, it's wholly original.
Yeah. What you end up with in the stand. So I'm back on board. I'm in.
I'm in baby. I'm running for the future. Also, Shoshy Red Emsh. Yeah.
I'm working. Shosh Red Emsh. Shosh Red Emsh. That's fucking great.
And that's unlike anything that we've seen so far. Yeah. So I like it. No.
The thing, like, yeah, we've seen like a lot of shitty movies, but we've also seen a couple of the best movies ever made. Right. Like, also legitimately the best movies. Yeah.
I know we rag on him for having like a very broad sense of humor. But I think the thing we've been overlooking up to this point is the fact that he has a sense of humor. He's not taking himself too seriously. Yeah.
Which maybe is a mistake we've made in the past sometimes. Yeah. Speaking of holy original things, let's talk about the reboots that are happening. It.
It. It. I heard a story that apparently this is not going to be a two part movie. I think this is only going to be one movie.
Really? I think. I'd heard two. I'd heard two also.
I guess. But it could be a rumor because what I heard was there was originally a director signed on who wanted to make it two parts, wanted to include that child orgy scene. And they were like, you got to go. We're going to have to ask you believe.
Hey, for no particular reason, we just don't think you're right for this or any other project. Yeah. Or anything at all. Yeah.
I think he's a little boy who wants to sweet. Yeah. He's not particularly scary. He's not particularly scary.
Like, OK, I want to say right off the bat, I feel like when people claim that they're definitely afraid of clowns, that they are phoning it in, it is not sincere for most people. Right. Are clowns creepy? Yes.
They try to be funny in this very dated way. That seems like a ghost itself. But are clowns like? Yeah.
Like it's dead because it is. Right. Yeah. But like do I see a clown?
I'm just like, oh, get it away. No. And I don't think most people are. I don't think most people are.
I don't think most people are. I don't think most people are. I'm just like, oh, get it away. No.
And I don't think most people are. It is the word moist of horror concepts. That's stupid word moist everybody. That's my least favorite word.
Oh, I can't even hear it. Oh, why not? I, what do you think of when you're just like just stopping wet pussy? Yes.
And I'm I'm definitely afraid of my own pussy. I'm a woman. That's fair. Yeah.
But no, that is like very much manufactured thing. Yeah. Yeah, bullshit. Most people can handle it.
Moist people can handle it. Yes. As can drive. Drive folks as well.
All of that being said, all of these, what do you think of these clowns popping up around the country? I think it's cute. I think it, no. In reality, I think it's so annoying.
It's the most annoying thing, right? It feeds into people's manufactured paranoia of clowns, which bothers me in that respect. But it's also like the people who would, yeah, go ahead. No, the people that would dress up like a clown to scare somebody?
To spook someone out? Yeah. This year round, not scary farm we're living in? Yeah.
I don't need it. It's the same thing like, oh, people don't like me. Because I listen to like creepy music, you know? Like back when Marilyn Manson was a thing.
Hot topic. It's shit. Yeah, yeah, like hot topic. Exactly.
They're like, oh, well, I'm going OK, because I listen to Marilyn Manson. And then you're an outcast. Because you're a fucking dweeb. Nobody wants to.
Yeah. I don't care that you listen to Marilyn Manson. Beautiful people's a great song. It's got a fun groove.
Yeah, I can dance to it. It's got a sick beat. What you think you think you're the only guy who likes fucking Uptempo shuffles? Go fuck yourself.
But the whole fucking thing where people adjust the sounds. No, it's so annoying. It's like fucking pound sand. Yeah.
It's like a, I want to say a worse Santa Con, but it seems like it's got some of the same DNA as a Santa Con. Santa Con. Santa Con. There is.
Santa Con. Yeah. Yeah. So that little little mini so little mini so that's it.
Yeah. Well, yeah. When we will wrap this up, and then we'll have a little, we'll probably drop another mini so like relatively soon. Yeah, we'll try to do it like, I don't know.
See we can make it like a weekly bi-weekly thing. Yeah. Yeah. Just checking in.
If there's news to talk about, then we'll jump in there. We'll talk about it. We started a while ago with the cell thing, and we kind of fell off. And here we are.
We're back again, baby. Yeah. So yeah. Until then, I don't know.
Should we say Steven? Or no, should we just say really quickly. OK. Let's just see if that's all right.
So until then, I'm Daggaglierity. I'm Robbie Bontz. Do you think?
