Welcome to Raw Impressions, Mondays music mini episode. Hi. Good morning, Lewis. Good morning listeners.

Good morning listeners. Good afternoon or whatever. Yeah, who knows what time they're tuning in. We're just lucky you do.

So lucky. So lucky. The sun is out. But I'd be happy to do this just me and you.

Yeah. Yeah. You and me and you. This is the time that I get to play some music for you.

Mini music Monday. Yep. And my song a week challenge continues. Number five.

Number five this week. Oh, my favorite number. Yeah. So maybe this will be my favorite one so far.

I don't know. I don't know. Although I did. Didn't I say good times was like a perfect song?

Yeah, that was like three songs ago, two songs ago. You liked that one. I guess I'll have to see how number five pans out. Yeah, I'm waiting for the time where you hear one of these songs ago.

I don't know. Like really critique it. Oh my God. Well, wouldn't that hurt your feelings?

No. Oh, OK. Would it hurt the listeners feelings? I don't know.

I like I like criticism. Do you? I can handle it. OK.

It's not that I like it. Yeah, I was going to say maybe I don't know if you like it. I like to say that I like it. I like to sort of give the impression that I'm I can just take it all in.

Receptive to feedback and then I can give a balanced response and I can grow. But the truth is a lot of times when I get criticized, I put it in my pocket. Mm. I take it around with me.

Mm. The things we carry. Yeah. Yeah.

Well, I mean, I hesitate to critique because you're music because I don't want to hurt your feelings. You've critiqued it before. Yeah, sometimes. But I mean, I try to, I mean, not be harsh.

Well, sometimes any kind of criticism feels harsh. Yeah, exactly. Exactly. So you have to be you have to be tender when you're talking about art and the ones you love and what they've made.

Mm hmm. Well, I did. I you're not talking close enough to the mic. I made another song this week.

There you go. And this one really surprised me because I didn't think it was very good at first. I was like, ah, maybe this is it. Maybe I've run out of gas.

Maybe I need to take a little break on this song, a week challenge. OK. You know what happened? I don't know.

I just kept working on it and and it started to reveal it. It's like a puzzle itself, which is a great thing. What I find so enjoyable about writing songs, it's like a puzzle, you know? Yeah, I might feel overwhelming at first.

How the hell are these? Yeah, maybe you get the edge and then all of a sudden they just all the pieces just start coming. Bam, bam, bam. Yeah, you hit that stride.

Yeah. I like that feeling too. I know that feeling I I get the same thing with design. Yeah, sometimes it feels like this makes no sense and then sometimes, not always, but sometimes if you do stick with it, you can find your way into it into the piece.

Other times you abandon ship, but it sounds like this week you stuck with it and it paid off. Why don't really abandon ship very often once I start writing a song? Well, I'd like to say I think more more songwriters might want to abandon ship. Well, I mean, I just I'm just saying there's a lot of songs in the world and and both of you that was me critiquing.

That was mean. That was harsh. I'm just saying that editing don't underestimate editing. I've never known, known editing very well.

Yeah. I saw how commencing in five notes. Here we go. Well, I'm making my careers to the end of my day.

I'm waiting. Peering podcast ads like this one, for example, but always wonder how you actually get involved with them for your own brand or organization? Well, it's easier than you think. We're Acast and we give you the platform to do it all yourself.

Get started at acast.com slash advertise. That's the that's the sound of last week's a crampus out. Mm. That's not what I expected the end result would sound like.

Mm. Maybe I was too caught up in my grump to hear it, but that was that was just that was like. I don't know the word delightful. Yeah.

It was delightful. It had a lot of fun sounds in it. Yeah, it was funny. I had a I was I was doing it.

Mm hmm. And the song starts to talk to talk to me the sound start to talk to me. And I'm going. And it was like it needs toy piano.

I'm like toy piano. Really? It needs toy piano. Mm hmm.

And I just because I heard it. Mm hmm. And I'm like, oh God, there it is. And like a ghost comes out.

These things and they go now you have to do that. I hear words too, sometimes just in the in the in the in the in the in the in the combinations of sounds, especially when you're like I'm bathing a lot of stuff in reverb and kind of just love it. I like that too. Yeah, I could go on about reverb the politics of reverb reverb.

But and how it relates to music from the 90s. Mm hmm. So anyway, once I layer these things, it just starts talking and telling me what to do. And I was like, you need to go get easy, toy piano and get it up here.

And I was like, oh, okay. And I did. And I think it worked really well. I do too.

So when you're maybe in like the zone, huh, you kind of start to hear these voices like in your head calling to you and giving you different directions. Yeah. Yeah, guiding you. Yeah.

I'm writing the song. This one was hard to find the words for. Well, actually I had a whole vocal melody that I thought I was going to do. And I'm like, that didn't work.

I realized halfway through the day yesterday that I had to find an entirely new vocal melody. So you did a band and you did edit. I did. Okay.

So you can. I did. And the idea was to finish the vocals approximately by the time Izzy comes home. Mm hmm.

And I managed to do that. Mm hmm. It kind of surprised me because I didn't, because when I sort of lost my way, circa one o'clock in the afternoon, I was like, hmm. And then I just listened close and I listened again.

And I realized what I needed to sing. Mm hmm. And I realized what the concept of the song was. Mm hmm.

And which is you, of course. Mm hmm. Yeah. That's sweet.

Really. I'm going to, we're going to do a Taylor Swift episode. Mm hmm. That's coming up.

Yeah. And the one thing that I want to say about it is that we hear Taylor Swift all the time. We do. And I realized my main, and I enjoy Taylor Swift.

Adele and I have many conversations about Taylor Swift and her artistry, her lyrical prowess, her ability to write a song. Yeah. And, but what happens is the consequence of hearing her over and over again is that songs get stuck in my head. Song.

Amazing. In five notes. Okay. This is going to be live.

Oh, my God. Oh, jeez. Oops. This is a live one.

My voice is trashed from yesterday. I was going to do a song called Sunshine. That was a listener request. Yeah, but it was out of my range because I sang for hours and hours and hours yesterday.

So my voice is a little compromised. Okay. And so you chose a different request. Yep.

This one's called Love is Stronger. Okay. I said I'm don't mind when I do. Cause I do anything for you.

Watch us waste away if you smile and if we lose it all in step. I'm not happy where we are. Let me blame it on the stars. The words that run love is stronger than the truth.

Another year in paradise. Some things are wrong and do your best to play long. Cause I won't make you tell me why. Cause I don't take my own advice.

If I'm here to save your whole life. Let me try. Cause love is stronger than the truth. And I have everything to lose.

If you leave me, it's worth all of a separate. All the magic's fight to fly. We may never realize what we've been through. Love is stronger than the truth.

Love is stronger than the truth. So please give me back my life. If you plan to let this die. You played that at your show recently at the Drake as well.

I did. I thought it went over well there. Well Steve Andrews slash Westfield. Okay.

Alright. That's it. Time to stop talking. It's the end of mini music Monday.

Wow. Guess we'll continue on. Continue on. Continue for listening.

Our conversation later. That was a lot quicker. I didn't. That was 15 minutes.

Okay. So long. See you. Quick question.
