Hello and welcome to Mini Music Monday. We're here. Yeah, you're here Monday this time. Yeah.
Mm-hmm. As it was intended. Mm-hmm. Well, the Tuesday thing just gives us flexibility.
We need that. It's good to be flexible. And these go-go times. Oh, so much to do.
Life is so busy. Go-go going today to New York. Lou is packing last minute, per usual. Really?
Yes. I'm the one who packs in advance. And then you kind of reluctantly will throw things in if you see the suitcase laying on the floor. You're like, oh, but the meat of your packing is done like usually up until like Murph pulling in the driveway to pick you up.
I come home with so many clean clothes that I've never wear. So then you're actually, can I say, maybe you're not a good packer because you pack stuff that you don't need. Well, I'm often packing while you're watching me. So it's my fault by proxy?
Totally. Aren't you going to need more than that? Okay. No, I'm not.
Then I have to go. Then I have to say no, I'm not. Then you have to look scappy at me. So it's like this performance we're just doing.
And then you tell me. And you say, well, you should just pack a little more just in case. And then I pack a bunch more. I am from the Midwest.
Everything is just a little more just in case. Is there enough hot dish at this party? Just one more just in case. Okay.
Who's in charge of the ambrosia? Where is it? Anyone? You all want to take this home and throw it away?
Here, you throw this away. Here, throw it away. Anyway, anyway. It's what we call leftovers.
Here, you throw this away. I really, I mean, I have shirts and I have pants. You guys, he tried to get away with putting one pair of underwear in his suitcase. This just happened right before we sat down to these hot mics.
So I'm commencing in three strikes. I'm not an underwear guy yet. It's never too late. Hello, Robin on the back of the bike.
Nothing I'm don't mind that he tied. My foot slipped and hit the wheel. It was bloody but the ankle healed. He was running through a field of the boy in his arms.
He's thinking that he done the harm. I will say that my daddy's arms. I'll say that he's on the bed, that's my check with Nes. How'd it turn a day like that in the christmas?
It's none of yourmen down business. He loved driving down the country roads He's got the kids in the back of the wagon full They're coming down the mountain, the brakes did fail He made a saw get out and walked the rail It took my own washington alone, getting the idea to wreck the car But I knew he'd soon be, there's not jacke with this I hardly take a day like that without losing it It's none of your numbness, no it's a wonder that I didn't rather man It's same, much gamfoot and stubborn brain They treat my friends like family Some of them love them even more than me I hear he bolded the three games, six thirty The dudes got the magic on Life long witness That's the magic man how he himself is I say none of your numbness None of your numbness None of your numbness Great question, when was the last time a display ad changed your mind? Now think about the last time a friend told you about something they loved Different feeling right? Dr. Put My Mouth on this thing How many mouths have been on this thing? One Who's mine? Do I blow into it?
Yeah See I can also contribute musically as well I'm not a musician anymore but I was This is a subject for another day Oh my god, you have to tell... Well you know it's coming up, it's a seasonal story So everyone, I don't think you told this story in season one, correct? Did I buy my most of my most embarrassing moments? Maybe it's just our annual telling...
My Silent Night Holy Night? Well it is coming up on... We're gonna do that one this year Yeah, that should really have its own episode It should be repeated Forever, every year we should gather around and repeat the story of Adele's violent concert in front of the amassed student body and parents It's great, anyway Oh my gosh, so why did we have none of your goddamn business today? I don't know, you thought of it And then in our last episode, the Kung Fu fighting episode People are still...
They're gonna recover from that one You said that I was a good bowler which blew me away I do think you're a good bowler I think... So I learned everything that I know about Bowler from my father I sat through his league games on Saturdays and I went bowling and he had a really distinctive style of bowling Because his delivery is like... It's like pro level It looks pro level He's not a pro level bowler I don't think he would have any problem with me saying that He's a good bowler But his style Whoa Oh man, just like the flourish And John still try to do it, do you think? Can you throw a ball?
John, are you listening? Should we go bowling? He probably could pull it out and then pull something Aww, I know, let me go take... He's got stitches He's got stitches in his side right now I know, this isn't a good time for him to go bowling But I can picture it, I can picture him just Well, yeah, last off, so what you see when I bowler is the style I'm actually not a great bowler I'm a very inconsistent bowler I am not consistent in my stroke I'm in my delivery When I rolled the ball And I get mentally overwhelmed But anyway, that song is about my father My mother suggested that I write that song for his 60th birthday And I did There you go When I was asking my sister, I was once again Much like the song Tree You were asking Mandy then?
Yeah, I didn't ask him, I wrote that song for Mandy But then I asked my mother, what do I write this song about? So in this song, I needed a hook I needed a germ, I needed an idea from my family So I could write a song that really... Anyway, so I asked my sister And she said, well, you know, he always says, none of your goddamn business That's true, that's like his running joke If he's like, hey dad, how you doing? None of your goddamn business Hey, John Barlow, I haven't seen you in a long time How you doing?
None of your goddamn business It's like his... You know what I should do? I should just greet him by saying None of your goddamn business, John Instead of waiting for him to ask how I am I'll just, and maybe I'll even give like one finger in the air Like, John, none of your goddamn business Just walk right up in the city Just keep walking He's sitting in this recliner with his laptop in his lap I know, I said hi to him this morning I didn't actually, we did not have this exchange He... Oh he asked me if I was running away Oh my gosh I have a thought I had the thought Cause I showed up at Lou's parents' house This morning We were doing a little bit of a car exchange Yeah, yeah, yeah And I got there before Lou And so, I was greeting my father-in-law And the porch was morning And he opened up the door And he said, running away I said, not yet But just bringing the truck back, dad Well, that's funny That's a funny thing he said It was fun So yeah, so, that was a song I wrote For my dad 60th birthday Which was like fucking decades ago now Damn And uh...
Bless I played it right. I played it during the ceremony. The ceremony. The ceremony of John W.
Barlow, turning 60 years old. Oh my gosh. And a backyard in Westfield, Massachusetts, and named two. Well, I guess it would be 2000s, early 2000s, right?
Because it's 2023 and he's in the game. Well, it's on a record. It's on my first self-released CD entitled, Lubicore, Volume 1. Is that available on our Barlow Family General store?
I don't think so. I think I might have actually sold out of the market. Yes, never mind. I think I might have.
I think I actually sold out of the 2000 copies I had made of that CD 23 years ago. What about Bandcamp, can you eat? It's available on Bandcamp. It is.
And there's certainly probably a pile of them at Domino Records UK. Maybe you'd find one in a bin somewhere. I hope so. Yeah.
I've bought back my CDs before. I bought back my records. We were going down the street a couple summers ago. Our neighbor was having a yard, I don't know what that was, some sort of yard sale.
Pop up. Pop up. It was kind of a pop up shop. It was a yard.
Yeah, there's a bunch of other people selling it. Yeah, it wasn't just a yard sale. They were selling stuff. We bought a crystal for Izzy.
Because when you're with the time, when your toddler wants a huge pink crystal, you just get it for $4. Yeah, let's say that was 2020, I believe. It was. It was, I think it was where we all like masked outside and scared.
Anyway, there was a, what did we buy? We bought the kids. We bought the kids VHS. The kids, the kids movie.
Yeah, kids movie. I scored with the heart and gender. No strikes. Many music Monday concludes.
