Welcome to Raw Impressions Monday's Music Mini episode. Good foot. Hang on, Amy, baby. I'm holding on to Adele's toes right now.

I'm wearing socks right now because... What was that logo? I don't know, it's like Dunlop. Dunlop?

Dunlop? Dunlop is now a P. I was at a P? A DP?

Dunlop? I'm wearing socks indoors because I'm trying to keep lots of lotion on my feet right now to prep them for the upcoming summer sandal months. Oh. To have beauty as feet so I don't offend people.

That's what a proper lady would do. I have a proper lady in Adele. She'll move your mic up, sir. This lady says, oh, well it was just so far from your face.

Creek. Anyway, so yeah, I've got little white athletic socks on right now. Going to the beach or something? There's some important information.

Well, I was looking at the weather and I don't think it's going to be super beachy but we are going to Cape Cod next weekend. That's definitely not going to be beachy then. No. And that's for a whale watch.

Yeah, it is. Apparently there's whales out there. I guess so. Yep, so maybe we'll actually see.

I've never seen a whale. Me either. I mean, not in person at the zoo. Have I seen a whale?

Are they at the zoo? Whales are too big. Oh my God. This is like my Jessica Simpson is chicken tuna moment.

Well, for one thing it would be in an aquarium but that would be brutal. How big are whales? They're fucking, they're as big as a school bus or bigger. We have to cut this.

I can't believe I asked. No, we've got to keep it. It's quite great. I've seen a whale in the zoo.

We're definitely keeping that. We're rolling on it because it just doesn't matter. So, I'm convincing. I've got to move it.

Well, that's a whale of an embarrassment. Speaking of large. Large what? Large songs?

Oh, Dias or Junior. That's the sort of thing. Large animal. I'm in that band.

Also not in the zoo. I'm going to play some songs from Dias or Junior. This one is called Recognition and I wrote this song. Okay.

Recognize. Recognize the song. You better recognize. I will.

What album is this from? Don't ask me that. Oh. Is this a reunion album?

Yes. Maybe it's I bet on Sky. I don't know. Maybe.

Okay. Well, this was a listener. We got an email request to rawimpression's podcast at gmail.com. I think this guy's from Scotland.

I got to keep going on this song. Oh, sorry. Why? Is it going to be?

Yes. These are structured episodes. We'll get to it, sir. Look what I've done.

Didn't make the best of that one. I've arrived feeling sure. I've ended up all insecure. How does it feel to be lost in your creation underneath the bow and lie?

Situations improvised. Here, beyond fear, there's a sign of recognition. Good to know I can survive. The spending and of every night.

Too bad on me that I rely on validation. Unsupplied. Cause I'm hungry for it now. And I want to hear the sounds of recognition.

Let me in. And I want me up and watch me spin. And I'm me that I rely on validation. Unsupplied.

Cause I'm hungry for it now. And I want to hear the sound of recognition. Let me in. Let me up and watch me spin.

Yeah. You did it. I did it. That was tricky cause there's a lot of...

They love trickies. It's kind of tricky. I can play it when I know I've said this many times before on many, many music Mondays. Many, many music Mondays.

But sometimes I can sit and play something over and over again with ease. But then when I know the red light is on. Are we recording? I just looked over and just make sure we were recording.

We are recording. That was actually cool. Sometimes when I start recording I actually not sometimes but often my hands get a little stiff. A little stiff.

I'm nervous. This was a song request from David. And I'm not going to say his last name. But just cause.

I don't know. I'm protecting his identity. I love protecting people because I'm a victim of identity thought as you know because you're a one fan and you know. But David sent us a really nice email and yes we do read them.

I feel kind of excited because people are like I don't know if you guys read these. They send every email starting that way. But it's like maybe that's cause we don't reply to every email. But we read them more than once.

Yeah. I'm looking at it again. I'm holding it in my hand right now. I've probably read that email at least four or five times.

Oh. But. Exaggeration. I'm trying to exaggeration.

Yeah. But I mean I could. I could take it down four or five more times. Sure.

Why not? I'd like to. I'm going to spend some time with this email. Hey.

I'm jealous. Hey. Hey. I'm going to spend some time with David's email.

Are you reading that email again? I am. Maybe. Don't bother me.

I'm reading an email. Wow. Where's it all? I can't believe I wondered if a whale could fit in the zoo.

I thought that was really cute. It was endearing. Yeah. I'm going to do that.

If you've ever thought, and maybe you didn't, maybe you're like, no. But if you're like, it all seems really smart, really bright. And I have my moments. I have things that I know a lot about.

I have certain things I know a lot about. And then there are things I know clearly. Nothing about. Oh, you have five notes.

It's another Dancer Jr. This one is actually a Jane Mascos song. I don't know if I've really done this before. I mean, I've certainly done it before in my lifetime.

You're going to do a Jane Mascos cover? Yeah. This song. Well, I mean, this is one of my favorite songs.

This is one of your favorite songs. Period. Like of any. Well, okay.

What album is this from? Do you know? This is from the very first song. Sorry.

I learned this song. What's that one called? Dinosaur. Oh, I thought it was called Cats in a Cup or something.

Cats in a Bowl? No, that's the worst song on the record. Oh. I mean, it's a great song.

My performance just ruins that song. Oh. Well, don't sing that then. No, I probably should.

Oh, not today. Today you're going to sing Rook Colshin. That would be a music Monday that was themed songs that Lou hates playing. Or that I have difficulty playing.

Okay. Actually, I have difficulty playing this one. I have to pick up. So wait, does Jay sing this one?

He does. He's saying almost all the songs on that first album. No, no, no. That's an exaggeration.

No, you do. No, I don't. How many do you? I don't know what I'm counting right now.

Well, I just felt like a lot when I was at the reunion show. I know. While I'm doing this song, Repulsion from the first dinosaur junior record titled Dinosaur, now titled Dinosaur Junior because we had to change our name. So some people out there might have the original dinosaur.

Yeah. Yeah. It's a hot commodity. You're a hot commodity.

I feel your eyes upon me. How should I activate? To feel so unsure always. Give up on now, keep on this way.

Go put that over. The silence taps my elbow. It's good, least that's what you said. I could run without standing greeted.

But I won't stop as long as I'd feed it. The world drips down like gravy. The thoughts of love so cheesy. Everyone's ideal of fun.

Repulsion. Try to wake up. I'm not going to stop. Repulsion.

Try to wake up. Try to break it open. It's not quite the right feeling. I'll just keep on.

A girl's smile and say hello. The darkness drags me back home. It's hard to face it. Still waiting, still alone.

World drips down like gravy. The thoughts of love so hazy. Everyone's ideal of fun. Repulsion.

Try to wake up. Try to break it open. It's not quite the right feeling. I'll just keep on.

The world drips down like gravy. The thoughts of love so hazy. Everyone's ideal of fun. Repulsion.

Repulsion. Repulsion. I like that line. The world drips down like gravy.

It's great, isn't it? God, that's good. How do you even write that? I don't know.

It was a 19-year-old J. Masquez, possibly 18. Freshman in college. We had disbanded Deep Wound pretty much.

Right on the heels of that. I went to his house to play some songs. He played those songs. I was like, what the fuck?

That was crazy. I was like, we were listening to a lot of great music band. That's when we were discovering Neil Young. The Dream Syndicate.

R.E.M. All these really cool, kind of like, they were called college rock bands. Really cool jangly bands that were writing great songs. And J somehow, I believe, that song just is truly amazing.

I can't think of any other song that combines those elements quite the way it did. It's kind of metal in parts. It's kind of super jangly in parts. It's a beautifully constructed song.

It's airtight. That song's intense. How good that song is. It is.

I agree. Yeah. I like hearing it live, too. Really fun to play live.

We opened up our show the other night with it. You did. I did. I was like, did you want to do that?

Nice. Where was that? At Roadrunner. Oh, yeah.

Just played in Boston, you guys. Last night. Two nights ago. Hoping for the whole steady.

Yes. And then who opened? Come. Yeah.

It was like, you guys were in the sandwich. C-O-M-E. Yeah. We were the meat in the sandwich.

We were the cum. You were the tomatoes. You were the tomato. Hold steady.

I didn't really stick around because we had to drive back home. I regret it not sticking around because I thought that guy before he was really nice and the band are super nice. They have this really nice pedigree. They're from the Twin Cities originally.

They just seem to exude. I don't know a whole lot about the band, but they exude a lot of passion and people have a lot of passion for their music. Well, I was a fan of Lyft or Polar who I don't know the guy's name who's in the band. Craig?

I think it's Craig. Is that right? Thanks. That was his band before the whole steady, right?

Yeah. Is it the whole steady? I believe so. He had a great band in Minneapolis called Lifter Polar.

I think I got to see their last show at Loring Park or the last show they played as a band. I was living in Loring Park in a tiny little apartment that my rent was $420 a month. How great is that? 420.

Anyway, fun fact. We used to smoke and weed back then? No. 420 wasn't anything back then.

Yeah. I was a...no, I wasn't. It's just...anyway, it's a cool neighborhood in Minneapolis and there's a park there, Loring Park and I walked over and sat on Hill and saw Lifter Polar and they were great. So, we've never seen the whole steady though.

Oh gosh, we're over our time. We got to go. Yeah. Jeepers, creepers.

I forgot to put the end part on. Oops. Well, we'll end it with...I think I gave you inspiration for a new song. You did?

Whales in a zoo. You can't put a whaling in the query, I'm either. I mean, there are small whales. Can't tame that piece.

There's tiny whales. They're tiny whales. I wouldn't say they're tiny. You got a tiny whale going to the zoo?

You could put a tiny whale in the big old tank. I saw...I went to an aquarium in Osaka, Japan. Right. For those not so well-traveled.

Yes. There's a... There's a... There's a massive aquarium that has...it's central tank is just enormous.

It's probably...I mean, I'll exaggerate. Let's just say it's 10 stories high. It's a fucking tank. Okay.

And it has like...I mean, it's still depressing because there's just fish swimming in circles. Yes. But it's big. It's fucking big.

And there could possibly be a smaller whale in there. Maybe a killer whale. They could put a lot of killer whales. That's right.

Killer whales. Like a...chemoo. Uh-huh. Yeah.

Okay. So I'm not so crazy for thinking I could see a whale somewhere contained. No. Because you did not...you said like, oh, I'd love to see a humpback whale in the zoo.

You'd be like, well, we're in an aquarium. Yeah. Like you said, you know, I'd like to see a sperm whale. That wouldn't happen.

That would be like seeing a...wait. But how much bigger is a whale than like a T-Rex? Because you know, when you go to the Met in New York, the Metropolitan Museum of thought to New York? I think the official...the official measurement for whales is in buses.

School buses. Wow. That's a...I'm making that up. Oh, see, I believed you.

I don't know. You just tell me something I believe you. I like this. Thank you very much, everyone, for listening to mini music Monday.

I forgot to put the tag on the end of this one. I don't even know what to say. Bon...bon... Good night.

On that note, mini music Monday ends. Concludes. Concludes. Thank you for listening.
