 Whether you accept the Ten Commandments written by the finger of God on Mount Sinai on stone tablets or see them merely as a code of conduct generated by an ancient culture with thousands of years of tragic history, they are important to us because they are the foundation of our own democratic principles.  All the Ten Commandments are necessary for the law of liberty; and for every commandment you remove, liberty is weakened.  Without the Ten Commandments as the foundation of freedom and democracy, there would be no United States of America.
