Currently, most ex-pats are working remotely running mines. The changes in working patterns mean ex-pat recruitment in the mining industry will be changed forever. The role of an ex-pat is usually to train someone from the country in around 2 years to take over their role. Mining is a primary industry and anything in the world is either mined or farmed. It takes a long time to build a mine and you have to remember the importance of working alongside the community and contributing to it. The majority of local people are positive if they can see the benefit. Infrastructure is vastly improved with the creation of a mine. Educating children about how mining contributes to the world economy. In any situation, there are opportunities if you know how and where to look for them. My podcast is about interviewing technical people from different aspects of the mining industry. Interviewing and listening to my guests is helping to increase my knowledge.
