Minor Prophets and Modern Saints - The Book Zechariah and Bayard Rustin

Zechariah uses this phrase "prisoners of hope" for an audience who knows what it is to be a prisoner. The people of Jerusalem are a people whose story is tied up in slavery in Egypt, exile in Babylon, and even returning under the rule of a foreign empire. Zechariah inspires them to imagine how they might, instead of being imprisoned by others; by fear; or by greed, find themselves captured by the Hope of God.
