Minor Prophets: Obadiah

“The pride of your heart has deceived you,” Obadiah verse 3. Welcome you today to our study of the minor prophets. In this lesson, we're thinking about the little known one-chapter book of Obediah. Let’s start with little bit of the rich history of Obadiah that will help us to understand what's going on in this book better. Obadiah is the shortest book in the Old Testament and probably one of the least known books of all the books in the Old Testament. The historical background of Obadiah takes us back to a very memorable struggle in Genesis 25, a struggle between two twin boys, Jacob and Esau. Their constant struggle for their parents' approval throughout their life. The Edomites are descendants of Esau. And like Esau, who sold his birthright for a bowl of beans, the Edomites are about as fickle and shallow as Esau.
