Mira Murati’s Thinking Machines Lab Closes On $2 Billion At $10 Billion Valuation For AI

from (A)bsolutely (I)ncredible Podcast · host Bruce Burke

Thinking Machines Lab, the secretive AI startup founded by OpenAI’s former chief technology officer Mira Murati, has closed a $2 billion seed round, according to The Financial Times. The deal values the 6-month-old startup at $10 billion. The deal, which closed recently, according to multiple people familiar with the transaction, was one of the largest seed — or initial — funding rounds in Silicon Valley’s history. The company’s work remains unclear. The startup has leveraged Murati’s reputation and other high-profile AI researchers who have joined the team to attract investors in what could be the largest seed round in history. The startup’s website reads, Thinking Machines Lab is an artificial intelligence research and product company. We're building a future where everyone has access to the knowledge and tools to make AI work for their unique needs and goals.According to sources familiar with the deal cited by the FT, Andreessen Horowitz led the round, with participation from Sarah Guo’s Conviction Partners. The fundraising demonstrates the huge investor appetite in AI and faith in the vision of noteworthy founders to compete with the likes of OpenAI and Anthropic, as well as Big Tech giants Google and Meta.Murati left OpenAI last September after leading the development of some of the company’s most prominent AI products, including ChatGPT, DALL-E, and voice mode. Several of her former OpenAI colleagues have joined the new startup, including co-founder John Schulman, former head of special projects, and Jonathan Lachman, and former vice-presidents Barret Zoph, and Lilian Weng.More on Thinking machines Lab fundraising efforts on TechCrunchAgentic AI for the Enterprise | Inbound and Outbound AI Voice AgentsI’ve partnered with DBC Technologies and I am now consulting with companies who are interested in automating inbound and outbound messaging with AI Voice Agents. If you are interested in AI Voice Agents for your business or organization click hereI interviewed DBC Technologies Founder and CEO, Dennis Wilson for an episode of the (A)bsolutely (I)ncredible Podcast, watch now to learn more about AI Voice Agents.Watch the interview with DBC Technologies’ Founder, Dennis Wilson on YouTubeWeb AI Chatbots, Inbound / Outbound AI Voice Agents, AI Marketing & ConsultingIf you are interested in AI Voice Agents for your business or organization, click hereThats all for today, but AI is moving fast - subscribe and follow for more Neural News.
