In John 11, the story of Lazarus confronts the common misconception that our circumstances reveal God’s heart, reminding us that delay, disappointment, and grief are not evidence of God’s absence. Even in the pain, Jesus weeps with Mary and Martha, demonstrating that God is compassionate and present before He is powerful. Ultimately, Lazarus’ resurrection -- and the cross that follows -- prove that God’s heart is revealed in Christ, not in our circumstances.
