History of the Earthquake and Fire in San Francisco by Edward Hilton Loyal Books Early in the morning of Wednesday, April 18, 1906, the San Francisco area was shaken by a massive earthquake. Over the course of the next four days, fires spread through large swaths of the city, started by broken gas lines, fallen electrical wiring, and damaged chimneys. Broken water mains prevented the fire department from effectively battling the blazes. By the time the fires were finally extinguished on the afternoon of Saturday, April 21, nearly 3000 people were dead and 500 city blocks destroyed. Before the year was over, the Edward Hilton Company of San Francisco had collected and sifted through the available information to publish this concise and lucid analysis of what had happened. Ignited Fortitude Bobby Valdez & Aaron Sharp At Ignited Fortitude we feel called to make disciples as Jesus tells us in Matthew 28:18-20, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you”. We know every person has been equipped with purpose. Throughout life we let the world and enemy wear us down and doubt ourselves allowing that fire inside us to dwindle or extinguish. The desire of Ignited Fortitude is to make disciples and equip the saints by igniting and continuing to stoke that fire through the power of the Holy Spirit. We are here to come along side you on the path which you have been called, so that we will be found standing firm in contending for the faith but never losing sight of our first Love, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
