[Missing] Nikki Cheng Saelee-McCain

from Moms and Mysteries: A True Crime Podcast · host Moms and Mysteries Podcast

On a seemingly ordinary day in California, Nikki Cheng Saelee-McCain was driving on the freeway with her friend Chloe when the gear shifter in her beloved red Mitsubishi Eclipse snapped in half. Nikki, always calm and quick to laugh, turned on her emergency lights and coasted to the side of the road. What should have been a minor inconvenience turned into a nightmare. Nikki vanished. Born in a refugee camp in Southeast Asia on November 9, 1984, Nikki was the third of seven children born to resilient parents who fled Laos in the aftermath of the Vietnam War. Her family eventually made it to the United States, where Nikki grew up in the Sacramento, California area. Nikki was known for her infectious laughter, her calm demeanor, and her love of life. But when her car broke down on the freeway, she disappeared without a trace. This episode was created with the help of Nikki's family, who worked with Moms and Mysteries to share her story and keep her memory alive.
