Reading Nutrition Labels: The 20-Second Habit That Can Protect Your HealthHealthy and Happy Morning!Welcome to Mission 2030.I am Sathiaseelan Nagadasan—Nutrition & Wellness Coach, Marathon Runner, Former Chief Engineer & Managing Director, and Co-Founder of Sathiavani Holistic Wellness Hub and Serve With Smile Wellness & Nutrition Centre. Our mission is simple yet powerful: Empowering 1 Million Healthy Lives and Developing 100,000 Wellness Coach Leaders by 2030.Today's topic is "Reading Nutrition Labels: The 20-Second Habit That Can Protect Your Health."Let me ask you a simple question. When was the last time you turned a food packet around and actually read the nutrition label before buying it?If your answer is "rarely," you're not alone. Most people compare price and attractive packaging but spend only a few seconds checking what they are really eating.Remember, the front of the package sells the product. The back tells the truth.Food labels help us compare products and make healthier choices for ourselves and our families. You don't need to read everything. Spend just 20 seconds checking these five essentials.1. Serving Size – Nutrition values are often based on one serving, while a packet may contain several servings.2. Calories – Choose foods that provide nutrition instead of empty calories.3. Added Sugar – Breakfast cereals, flavored yogurt, fruit drinks, biscuits, and snack bars may contain surprising amounts of added sugar.4. Sodium – Lower sodium choices help support healthy blood pressure and heart health.5. Protein & Dietary Fiber – These nutrients support muscle health, digestion, and help keep you satisfied for longer.Don't be misled by marketing words like "Natural," "Low Fat," "Lite," "Multigrain," or "Made with Whole Grains."A low-fat product may contain extra sugar.A multigrain product may still be made mostly from refined flour.Always let the Nutrition Facts label—not the advertisement—guide your decision.Imagine comparing two breakfast cereals. One has more fiber and protein with less sugar, while the other contains mostly sugar. Without reading the label, you may never notice the difference. The same principle applies to bread, yogurt, beverages, and snacks.Healthy shopping begins before you reach the checkout counter.Choose one packaged food from your kitchen or supermarket.Spend 20 seconds reading its nutrition label.Check the serving size, calories, added sugar, sodium, protein, and fiber. You may be surprised by what you discover.Small daily habits create lifelong health. If you would like personalized nutrition guidance, we invite you for a FREE Wellness Evaluation, available both online and offline.Thank you for joining Mission 2030.If you found today's episode valuable, please share it with your family, friends, and colleagues.Together, we can build healthier families, stronger communities, and a healthier nation.I am Sathiaseelan Nagadasan.Until we meet again...Healthy and Happy Morning!Mission 2030Empowering 1 Million Healthy LivesDeveloping 100,000 Wellness Coach LeadersHave a wonderful, healthy, and energetic day!
