Mississippi John Hurt

In this show we feature and honor one of the greatest folk, blues legends to come out of the Mississippi delta, Mississippi John Hurt. John Hurt was born on July 3rd, 1893 in Carolton County Mississippi. He was raised in Avalon Mississippi and around the age of 9 he taught himself to play guitar. He was the direct descendant of slaves and he spent most of his life in a starkly racially divided community.
