Missouri River: from Iowa to St Louis

The Missouri River is the longest river in North America. Rising in the Rocky Mountains of western Montana, the Missouri flows east and south for 2,341 miles before entering the Mississippi River north of St. Louis, Missouri.  Host Richard Mabion will discuss the Mighty Mo, from Iowa to St Louis, with his guests Caroline Pufalt, Sierra Club Grassroots Network Team Activist, Gerald Mestl, who was Missouri River Program Manager with the Nebraska Games and Park Department before his recent retirement and George Cunningham of Omaha, Nebraska who will talk about the history of the river. The goal of the Missouri River Grassroots Network Team is to promote a healthier MO river, including greater native species diversity and health, better water quality, a more natural floodplain regimen and a more natural connectivity to the MS River and Gulf of Mexico. As part of this effort we want to increase appreciation of the Missouri River among area residents and help river communities develop sensible approaches to flood control and development.
