On March 20th, Missouri and Miami wrapped up media day at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, gearing up for their first round NCAA tournament clash. On Friday, the Tigers and Hurricanes shared the spotlight, with one big storyline standing out. Missouri forward Anthony Robinson II has deep roots with several folks on Miami's side.
Robinson grew up in Florida and has known Miami associate coach Charlton Young, or CY, since elementary school. Young even coached him during Robinson's first two years at Missouri as an associate head coach for the Tigers. He's got an even longer history with Miami's starting point guard, Dre Donaldson. The two grew up together in Tallahassee and teamed up to win a class 3A state championship at Florida State High School back in 20.
22. Robinson also stayed tight with Miami sophomore forward, Marcus Allen, his former teammate from last season at Missouri. They've kept in touch all year, despite Allen transferring to the Hurricanes. These personal connections add extra entry to the matchup, as both teams look to channel focus in advance in the tournament.
